Product Description

Crayon Rocks are simply the best coloring tool for young children! They are vibrantly colored and make beautifully textured art work similar to oil pastels. These all natural soy wax crayons are made from USA grown soybeans and colored with natural mineral powders. They are designed to strengthen the tripod grip muscles in young children, preparing fingers and hands for handwriting. The shape allows small fingers to apply color in large, wide strokes. Used by occupational therapists and preschool teachers to develop fine motor skills. Crayon Rocks are non-toxic and conform to ASTM D 4236 and CPSIA. Made in rural Kentucky, U.S.A. Length of each crayon is approximately 1 ¼ by ¾ inch. (Images on photos may appear larger). WARNING: Choking Hazard. Not for children under 3 years. Use with appropriate supervision.

How well these crayons work for your child will depend on her age and size. Tiny hands will find that they fit quite nicely, living up to their ergonomic expectations. Bigger hands will be frustrated and feel cramped. So note to Crayon Rocks -- make a bigger size for your bigger customers! Especially those of us who are vegan and eco-conscious, and so looking for a good alternative to beeswax or paraffin crayons.

Otherwise: Colors are good but a little dull and unvaried, though its true that the "dusty/waxy" appearance is superficial and doesn't affect the color of the crayon. Blending is pretty good, better than beeswax but not as good as oil pastels. The bulk cardboard box came in handy for projects.

These are great little crayons. The colors are vibrant and blend well. I am really happy with the assortment of colors. They are small, but that forces my boys to hold them with a tripod grip which is what I was after. I am really pleased with this purchase.

I bought these crayons for my daughter when she turned three and she is turning six and still has them. They have great durability and lovely colors. Couldn't recommend them highly enough. However, I would say not the greatest choice for little ones that still put things in their mouths.

My 3y/o is a complete artist. She colors and colors and colors some more. I've usually buy the regular crayons, but last week when I went to pick my girl up from Pre-K she was using these color rocks and was using the correct grip for holding a pen/pencil. At that moment I was sold. Her teacher told me that she loves them and the kids do too. I'm getting the 64 piece set so that they can last all year

I'm returning these rocks. I bought them as party favors for my 6 year-old's birthday party, but these are FAR too small for 6 year-olds to use. The back of the crayon has a hollow indentation, so, they are not actually round. I see no difference between these and regular crayons when it comes to developing motor skills, and I believe the picture deliberately omits the fact that they are flat and concave on the back.

My daughter has a thing for rocks. She loves them and I knew she would love these crayons. She is a little artist and sure enough, she loves them!
The rocks are colorful, true to their color and eco-friendly (bonus!) My daughter colors with these rocks every now and then, but the texture is different than normal crayons. They are made differently (to make them eco-friendly), so the texture is a little weird, but still colorful. Also, you can look at the shape of the rocks and see that you wont be coloring anything with fine edges - this is more for free drawing because they are small and bulky. Highly recommend these rock crayons for any little artist!

I LOVE these but why do they have to cost so freakin much??! I use them in my classroom to get my Pre-K kids to develop a proper grip, but they're just too expensive to use all the time. They work great though and really DO teach the kids a proper grip!

They are made in America, eco-friendly (soy based rather than petroleum) and best of all virtually unbreakable (they probably can be snapped, but it would take considerable hand/finger strength to do so).

Unlike other 'unbreakable' crayons we've tried, they color beautifully. They also help teach a good pincer grasp.

I've yet to find a single flaw with this product. Totally worth the price.
