As a child my mother would read these to me. I also had a record narrating these stories. My favorite was The Elephant's Child. The very thought of having my nose stretched was both frightening and exciting. Not to mention the idea of being able to spank those adults that had spanked me just for asking questions was thrilling.
The idea that things had been created not as I had been taught, but by a completely fantastic alternative was due opening. Because of this, I was able to question origins of everything and not always at face value. It opened me up to their cultures and beliefs, and for that I am grateful.
