About the Author
She is an adept relationship coach who also has many years of first-hand experience: 10 years spent trying to fix her emotionally abusive first marriage, going through a divorce, co-parenting, enduring a tumultuous rebound relationship and break-up, dating in her mid-thirties, journeying to find Mr. Right, and getting married again.
Jodi has a master's degree in management and organizational behavior, with an emphasis in training and development. After fifteen years working in corporate America, she was downsized and Jodi changed her career to teaching business and communications courses at the college level. She also began facilitating corporate training workshops in change management and leadership. Her time as a trainer included providing professional coaching sessions to corporate clients. That experience paved the way for obtaining life coach certification from Martha Beck International. Today Jodi enjoys providing relationship coaching to individuals and small groups.
She lives in northeast Wisconsin with her husband, Dan, her two sons and step-children, and a fur-child, Echo the Siberian husky. --This text refers to the hardcover edition.

I wish I could have had the guidance of Jodi's book. It's a great step-by-step manual for those who are in the same situation and have made the courageous choice to get out. Not only does it deal with the emotional side of this brave decision, but it tackles the practical part as well.
When you are in an abusive relationship and you want out, the emotional overwhelm and chaos often make you forget about the practical issues. But they are as much a part of this enormous change as the emotional implications.
When dealing with an abuser one must be prepared on all fronts. Because an abuser knows how to manipulate you and push your buttons.
In sharing her story and then giving you clear, practical steps to take, Jodi has managed to create a book that will be an essential part of your go-to-support system, making the ride considerably lighter. Jodi reminds you that you're not alone!
I find most authors are good at one of these sides, but she does an excellent job of balancing both. She speaks of turning your mind from seeing the divorce as a failure – and really helps you let go of this. And then how to evaluate where you are and design the safest exit possible.
It’s sensitive as well to children involved, and the certain backlash from the partner. Highly recommend this book.
