I have worked as a writer for my entire life, and have published nonfiction books, poetry collections, and news articles. In 2015, I began to draw for the first time in my 53 years as a way to express my sorrow over the death of my 94 year old grandmother. That evolved into a joy in art, in drawing the images that I see in my everyday life, as well as in my memories of my beloved grandmothers. I now make drawings on commission for individuals and small businesses, and design and sell images as notecards, posters, t-shirts, and more. Art has become my most heartful expression of joy. A writer all my life, I began to draw in my early 50s, when the death of my 94-year old grandmother left me with no words to express my sorrow. Since then, I have been drawing joyful, whimsical images of experiences or memories that seem universal to mothers, fathers, and children. My first illustrated book, "What Are Mothers For?", was published by Three Acre Wood Press (http://preview.tinyurl.com/jhbqag2). A portion of proceeds goes to Reading Partners Baltimore, an organization that helps struggling readers, pre-K to Grade 3, learn to read and achieve grade level. For now, I accept commissions to draw 6x6 inch watercolors, which can be framed, or printed on cards, mugs, shirts, or anything your heart desires.
