With all my praises for this book, this reviewer thought hard about giving it 5/5 stars; however, I give it only 4/5 stars because the author spends one whole chapter defending the work of the Warren Commission and outright denouncing any "conspiracy theories" that disagree with its conclusions. This is unfortunate as the author has strayed from a topic he clearly is an expert at, the life and work of Earl Warren, and jumped right into a series of overlapping topics (Castro, Cuba, organized crime, FBI corruption, CIA operations, LBJ vs Kennedy rivalry, etc..) that even the most accomplished readers would never consider themselves an expert it. But outside of this chapter, I consider this one of the best biographies I have ever read.
All in all, this book is a good example of why Amazon should have a 10-star rating system, so I could give it 9/10 stars.
