The relationship awkwardness is a bit more overwrought this time, but that's realistically what teenagers do, and there's growth not never-ending soap-opera drama, so in the end it's pretty satisfying too.
I received this book from the author as an ARC; however, the review is my honest opinion.
I received this book for free, and I've voluntarily chosen to review it. Opinions expressed above are mine and not influenced by the gifting of the book.
Loneliness is pregnant with Justice's baby. Because this could potentially jeopardize the missions of the Aspects, the Program wants her to abort her child. However, Loneliness wants to be a mother desperately and neither of them wants to get rid of their child. Love decides to strike up a deal with the program, saying that if the Aspects regain a city from the control of the monsters that Loneliness will be able to keep and raise her baby. However, with Love losing her powers, this long mission will prove more difficult than originally thought.
I enjoyed Love finding her independence and learning how to harness her powers by her own will in this novel. I love the love between Hate and Love, but I definitely want to see them both grow as individuals. I also enjoyed the storyline with a pregnant character and seeing how the characters treated Justice, as she is a transgender woman who is now the second mother of the new child. I always love how inclusive Mawson's books are, and this book was no different.
One of my favorite parts of this story was definitely learning about the strange masked woman with Love's powers. I won't spoil anything, but this arc of the story definitely did not disappoint.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a diverse and inclusive action-adventure sci-fi novel with a cast of strong characters.
