About the Author
Theresa Da Silva Edwards earned her Juris Doctor in Law, from John Marshall Law School (Georgia) in 1996, after graduating from Fordham University (New York City), with a B.A. in Political Science. During her third year in law school, she interned in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, litigating and mediating a caseload of about 20 cases daily. Theresa then went on to Clerk for the Honorable Sanford Jones, Chief Judge of Fulton County Juvenile Court. Prior to engaging in her Juvenile Mediation practice she served as Senate Information Officer for the Senate of the State of Georgia. Dr. Da Silva Edwards is a Juvenile Court Appointed Mediator and served the Rockdale and Newton Counties Juvenile Courts. She also served as Guardian ad litem for Newton County Superior Court. The Georgia Supreme Court certified Dr. Da Silva Edwards as a General Mediator. She is CEO and owner of Silva Solutions, Inc. Her corporation specializes in the creating and training of Alternative Dispute Resolution Programs for government agencies, juvenile courts, and corporations such as American Telephone & Telegraph Company (AT&T).

Dr. Da Silva Edwards has taken a very legal process and prepared a Manual to train an attorney in Juvenile Mediation. She has also written along with the legaleze, well crafted wording to explain in layman terms each step of the process. Thus, any professional that desires to begin a career or expand their skills to help juveniles in conflict may do so by reading and using the skills taught in this manual. What a great feeling you will have by bringing a child back on course to become a model citizen within their community.
She has explained how the juvenile courts evolved. As you read this manual you will find that juvenile mediation is not limited to the juvenile court. Dr. Da Silva Edwards has provided a means for anyone to set up a juvenile mediation practice in their community to serve private schools, a church or other social setting.
