Second pair looks even better, uses a slightly different material for the top (that I like more), has reflective bits and is lighter still (312 grams vs. 331 each shoe -- yes, I weighed them). It is marked "Made in Indonesia" instead of China. Time will tell whether it lasts as well -- but regardless, right now my feet are happy, my eyes are delighted and my wallet is uninjured. Hooray!
To start, I use these solely as leisure shoes. I do run, but I have never been on a run with these shoes. That being said, they're really comfortable leisure shoes. They breathe really well. So well that any moisture that may fall upon your shoe will get into your socks. This I don't enjoy, but considering how often that happens it's not really a problem. I can walk around in them for hours and hours and not have a problem with my feet being sore. They aren't especially soft or hard. They're somewhat what responsive when you do something demanding, like chasing after a child running away or side stepping to avoid a chair you weren't watching out for. The rubber on the bottom is pretty tacky, so you get a decent amount of traction. However, the design of the shoe automatically decreases this and it must be said that these shoes aren't very good when on a slippery surface.
As for wear and tear, they're held up really well after 6 months. I'm not particularly hard on shoes (I wear many different shoes, so I spread the love around), and these have worn as expected. The grips on the bottom have worn off (especially on the parts where contact is most prevalent), but that only means I don't trip as much because I don't pick my feet up all the way. Since they breath so well, and I change my socks so often, they don't smell, either.
*attached picture is from today, Sept 13th '15. Shoes purchased February 7th '15. This is to show how they're holding up.
overall, a good pair of shoes for the money.
