K.B. Goddard grew up in rural Derbyshire, spending her youth reading the likes of Conan Doyle and M.R. James.
Influenced by the literature of the 19th and early 20th centuries she began writing historical ghost stories. Her aim was to capture the essence of the classic era ghost stories that she grew up reading.
She wanted to create an atmosphere of wonder, to tell the kind of ghost stories that you want to read around the fireside on a snowy Christmas eve.
Her stories pay an affectionate homage to the golden age of the traditional ghost story while possessing their own unique quality.
She takes her inspiration from the ghosts and legends of her native Derbyshire as well as from her Irish heritage.
Her work has appeared on both The Wicked Library and The Lift podcasts. She has also had horror and folklore articles published on The Spooky Isles. Most recently she had one of her short stories published as part of the first ever Shadows at the Door anthology.
