"If you think about it, the very first vacation anyone ever takes is in a book. You can go hundreds of miles, go across the world, visit distant galaxies from the comfort of your living room couch. I can remember the best afternoons, night and into some mornings buried in a book. I want to bring that experience to everyone. Give you a glimpse of the world I have created in my head!"

Blog postJust sharing that I’m an Amazon BestSeller for Contemporary YA Fantasy!
Excitement is beyond what I’m feeling. Trepidation, yes. Anxiety, hell yes. But most of all fulfillment and happiness.

Blog postHave you ever had a bolt of lightning strike you?
Neither have I. That would be terrifying not to mention life-threatening. But I have had a good idea come out of nowhere.
As I read a story and get enthralled by the plot and characters, questions always come up for me. “Hmm, I don’t like that. What if…”
Or “That doesn’t seem realistic to me. What I would’ve done is…”

Blog postI love sci-fi/fantasy but I am a sap for a love story.
I can’t see a story without some passion within it. It’s one of the reasons I love my husband because he is as sappy as me and loves a good rom-com (did I mention he’s a scriptwriter?).
Fantastical elements are wonderful pieces to a story but to read and understand a love story, unrequited or not, connects with readers. Because we all have been there. Maybe we fell in love with someone we weren’t supposed to. Or someone ou3 years ago Read more -
Blog postEveryone says that they take a page out of real life to write about in their fiction. I never expected my fiction to become eerily real life.
Let me explain…
My debut book is called “Awoke” and its part of a triology called “The Want Series.” The Want are human souls turned monsters. The Want embody human feelings – the detestable kind. In the book, I break them down to the Six of the Seven Deadly Sins:
Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Envy, and Pride.

Blog postOriginally posted on Book Room Reviews. I don’t know about you but I love Mhysa. Sorry, my geek is showing – let me start over. I love Game of Thrones. There are so many great characters in the hit HBO show (yes I know it’s a book but I’m focusing on the show). My particular favorite is Daenerys Targaryen. If you know the show, perhaps she’s a favorite of yours too. If you aren’t – come join us on the other side. You know you’ll like it… But all jokes aside, Dany is considered a fierce and be3 years ago Read more

Blog postOne of my favorite shows is 30 Rock. Liz Lemon’s character, in my opinion, is one of the funniest characters in comedy. About every year, I’ll rewatch the entire series and I just noticed that I watch it when things are going excitedly well.
I’m watching the series now because “things are happening!”
My SugarCane Publishing team have been hard at work getting the word out for Awoke and it is starting to pick momentum this weekend.

Blog postlI have been hinting that I have been working on a number of things for my book. I can tell you I have immensely busy. But it’s such a good busy that I wake up excited to get to work. I have two jobs: lawyer by day, writer/entrepreneur by night.
We are finally at a stage that I can finally reveal to you….SugarCane Publishing.

Blog postI’m in the process of getting ready for my publishing company debut and book release in September (didn’t mention that yet, huh? Yeah that’s happening) and I’m starting to look around to different groups who might be interested in featuring my book in their book club or blog or whatever. And as I am looking for black writers/readers group to feature my sci-fi/fantasy book, I start seeing a pattern.

Blog postIt’s been awhile since we’ve talked guys. Mainly because I was off celebrating my first year of marriage and a couple of other milestones (I’m building up the courage to talk a bit about in my next post).
But I wanted to stop by and just share something that’s been on my heart with you guys.
The world doesn’t want to see you.
If you didn’t know that, this may be a shock to you. But you needed to know. The world doesn’t want to see you. The world doesn’t really ca4 years ago Read more -
Blog postThis post serves as a honest place for me to work things out. I realize that this is a public place to do that but it’s where my heart is leading me to. At times it might sound a bunch of ramblings, but this is why this blog is called “Writings, Life & Ramblings.” If anything here resonates with you, let me know.
You’ve ever been to a place where you just didn’t know what to do?
Of course you have. You’re a human being. Presumably a living human being going through the qua4 years ago Read more

Katya leads a normal life any teenager would be envious of - popular, pretty and dating the high school elite. Not that she enjoys the spotlight, mind you. She wants everyone to believe she is normal.
But when Katya sees the real reason behind the earthquakes plaguing everyone in Boston, the truth rattles and shatters the perfect normal illusion Katya created for herself. The ability to see unearthly creatures and manipulate waves of life energy labels her as anything but normal. And it's an ability that attracts unwanted and dangerous attention.
She reluctantly finds herself in the company of Gregor, a handsome member of an international spirit military team called the Kyrios. Her simple decision to help thrusts Katya in a world of the undead spirits, betrayal and a perpetual battle between undead monsters and the wardens that keep them in their place.
Katya must decide whether she values the simple and easy life she created for herself over the complex and difficult world now asking her to stand and fight.
