When I say I love rock star romances that's an understatement so please don't throw stones my way with my review. My issue with this one was that Ainsley was way too much back and forth, the doubt was too much of a constant in my opinion. Then we finally get a HEA only to read they never wed, she waited over 15 years to finally plan to say yes after other children were born after Shay's wedding?! Sorry I don't get that, why so long? Because of Bob? It doesn't make sense, Kade proved himself worthy over and over again. He was a great, strong, beautiful, hot alpha hero but the only thing missing for me was the ultimate epilogue the HEA including their wedding. Sorry Ainsley's changing her mind so often, choosing a safe route at one point (Eric) then going back to Kade again only to leave him again was too much for me. If not for that I definitely would've given this a five star review. The writing was perfect, great detail minor typos if there were any at all, I didn't notice but I'm not one to look or criticize errors. It's not my thing to knock an author down, I always try to look for the positive in every book.
No cliffhangers, no threesomes, no cheating. Sexy, hot, yes. Good story, yes for the most part. Good secondary characters, yes. I was not asked to give my review or given a copy and am not a friend of the author's, this is my honest review. Would I read from this author again? Yes, especially if it's another rock star read!
But time does not lesson the love you try denying and when they are forced upon each other at their friends wedding, fate steps in.
I love second chance books and this is a wonderful, well written, touching story about life, acceptance and love.
Wow! Jane Anthony does it again with this smoldering read. The heat, my god the heat, between Ainsley & Kade nearly melted my kindle, it was so hot. The complexity of Kade's character was so unexpected yet so amazing, it made me want to reach through the screen to hug him (and possibly try to cop a feel). His damaged soul was so beautifully soothed by Ainsley's feisty, yet loving ways.
Ainsley made Kade work for the relationship. A couple of times, I was thinking, rather loudly to myself, "C'mon Ainsley! He's tryin' here!!! Give him a chance!!!" I won't lie. I was a little frustrated with her at points. But she made the best decisions she could considering everything both she and her daughter, Shay, had been through when "A" met Kade. And how adorable was Shay? She was the absolute cutest and so wide beyond her years.
Jane Anthony continues to suck me in (completely willingly, of course) to her stories and I can only hope she has many more tales to tell...especially if her scorchingly hot heroes resemble Kade in even the smallest way!
The sex was masterful and intense even in the tender moments. Those moments when all it takes is to be in the same room together. It their truth to find. Beautiful in all its doubts, pain, fear and hurt. Love heals all things. You have to be willing to choose love. It isn't perfection in love that brings these two, to the fabulous ending. It's the willingness to love openly and share that fear and imperfection with the person who best fits.
I get the struggle Ainsley faced with putting Shay above everyone else even the intense lust and passion of possibility of being whole and put first. Kids come first. I am just glad that I got to read this fabulous story.
Jane Anthony, you rock. You were right. I love Kade's mad skills. I loved them together.
This is definitely worth reading. I didn't want the story to end but the ending beautiful and so right for them.
