Sadly, this story fell so flat for me. It felt as if either the story was rushed and and in some cases, the other characters over took the story. Or it was written by a completely different writer.
The humor was gone, the steamy scenes not so good.
Now, I did still give it a decent rating, because I do love the Slater brothers and I'm holding out hope that this was just a hiccup in the series.
Kane had potential, but I think the series are becoming bigger faster than the author expected. As I said, it was rushed. The editing errors was crazy. Normally that doesn't matter to me, but I knew it could be better. I expected better. The story seemed shorten. Although it was a good length novel, yet Nothing really happened other than a fire. Even Kane himself was different. His personality different, anger, love for his family. He was just different.
I am still excited for Ado's little book. I was looking forward to see how the brothers and especially Kane would react to the delivery and I'm hoping there's some humor and happy tears to come with it. But that's not how the story ended. I will admit I was upset for about thirty seconds. I then realized there will be a 3 1/2 book, and of course that would have to be the delivery. So yes I will be reading the next book. Fingers crossed it won't be a huge disaster with the editing and I really hope all characters will remain the same and no longer suffer from amnesia or multiple personality issues
Kane was great; all sexy, supportive & patient but Aideen got on my nerves BIG TIME in this one. I loved her for her humor & brutal honesty in prior books but unfortunately in this one... her stubbornness & inability to recognize what Kane's affections meant (time & time again), reigned supreme.
Loved getting more of the Slater brothers & their women; especially that surprise appearance on the very last page! They are total scene stealers.
Even though she irked me a bunch, very much looking forward to the next book in the series, Aideen (#3.5). There are a couple of loose ends that have to be tied up & I want (no, NEED) that resolution as soon as possible! :)
POV: Hers / 1st person
Naughty Factor: 3 out of 5
Kane was such a sweet, soft marshmallow underneath that hard exterior. He and Aideen's bickering was comical and only fueled their spark. They were the perfect example of opposites attract. I knew underneath all that animosity was a heaping dose of attraction & affection wrapped up in an animalistic need for the other. The were an awesome pair. Aideen was so supportive of Kane and how he is. She understood him on a level that only his brothers had; which only strengthened his affection for her. But she was a true ball-buster. She made sure to keep him in check and make sure he was aware she wouldn't tolerate certain things in their relationship. She was strong, even when it hurt to be.
They both just warmed my heart. I don't know how many times I "awwww'd" for Kane throughout their story. I don't know how many times my heart melted into a puddle...I simply lost count. Kane was always the one that seemed to be the biggest threat of the Slater brothers but he was truly the sweetest when he allowed Aideen in.
I enjoyed the way this story played out! In true LA Casey fashion, Kane is a super sexy, bossy, dangerous alpha male and Aideen is a smart, sassy independent woman! I love that throughout all of these books I never feel like I am reading the same story over and over, just with different characters. There is no shortage of steamy scenes and I loved the way Kane grew and changed through the book!
