Excellent knife for the price

I normally do not buy knives in this price range because all the one's I have seen have been inferior junk made in foreign countries. However, when I was looking for a scandi grind bladed folder I came across this knife. I had never seen a like like this but I loved the look and figured for $40+ it was worth it to try it out and if I didn't like it I was only out $40. So I apprehensively placed my order and hoped for the best. I received my knife in the time frame that Amazon stated and I was pleasantly surprised with what I got. I was expecting some flea market $2 knife that had loose fittings, off-centered blade, cheap materials and spray painted finish. Boy was I surprised! The blade, although not a true scandi grind as it has a slight secondary bevel, is a very well ground, thick and VERY sharp. The handle is thicker than I expected and the faux bamboo scales give a nice tacky feel to it. All this to say that I am astonished with what my $40+ bought me and I am so glad that I ordered one. I plan to use this as my go to utility knife and as a backup to my custom knives. If you are on the fence on this knife stop kicking the tires and buy one.

I buy lots of knifes on Amazon in this price range and I have to say this one is one of the best I've purchased.
The overall quality of the knife is excellent. The quality is similar (and maybe better) than the Ganzo brand of knifes.

The G10 handles are cut to resemble bamboo - nice touch. Good lockup, nothing flexes.

One thing to note. The way the clip is setup it will only support point down right handed person. Which is a bummer since I'm a Lefty. But examining the knife, I can see that the liner is drilled for a left hand carry so you would only had to drill through the G10 to switch the clip.

On closing there is a small hole in the base of the blade that when its closed a detent (small ball bearing in the lock) locks into the blade - this will help prevent it from coming open when in your pocket. I have a concern here that with the extending catch on the end of the blade can cause the blade to open up some. Will have to continue use to see what happens.

Also - it arrived shaved sharp

Great deal, I would buy this brand of knife again !

Unequal secondary grind

A very good looking folding knife that feels very solid however mine has one flaw that I noticed right out of the box. The secondary grind that forms the edge of the knife is not equal on each side of the blade. It doesn't effect the edge right now but with heavy use you will eventually have to re-profile the 'short' side which is a pain especially with a tough steel like D2 steel.

Color me impressed. Only a couple of days after writing this review I was contacted by Katsu customer service to resolve my issue with the knife in a very fair and professional manner. Kudos, I wish all companies were equally concerned with making their customers satisfied.

An update. After using this knife for several months I must say I love it. The blade design is surprisingly useful for everyday tasks.... just don't use the point to pry given that there is very little metal supporting it.

Great, Solid Folding Knife.
Knife takes well to sharpening Stone and leather strop.
If careful, a blistering sharp edge is possible. Arrived very sharp. Came with a cute, albeit useless drawstring bag. Cleans up easily.
I carry this knife to work everyday. Very useful. Positive lock. Blade Doesn't wobble. But if it did it can easily be tightened with a small hex key wrench.
I misplaced this once for about 2 weeks and was ready to purchase the Katsu again. Fortunately found it. Of the zillion or so knives out there to choose from that comment alone should tell you all you need to know.
My ONLY complaint is with the pocket or belt clip. The very end of the clip arcs or bends outward to facilitate clipping it into the Jean coin pocket. As I pull my hands out of my Jean pockets the end of the clip scrapes painfully across my hand.
Katsu has made an almost perfect folding here.
Recommend.

Sharp. Durable. Unique.

The first thing that caught my eye about this blade was what catches almost everyone's eye. The unique design. The blade its self is extremely sharp out of the box, and the solid construction combined with the G10 handles give it a very sturdy feel. There is no rattling or play anywhere on this knife which is a strong indicator of quality craftsmanship. The blade opens smoothly and quietly with not catches. The clasp on the side is also made of very solid metal and flexes just enough to clip onto your pocket (which is how I prefer to carry this knife). Almost every area of the spine has been rounded smooth, leaving no rough edges. (there is a slight rough edge on the tip of the finger lever to draw the blade, but that is it). Most pocket knives have a bit of play in the joint, where the blade and the handle meet due to mass part manufacturing. This blade does not, further displaying its quality. The knife has a very sharp edge right out of the box.

So far I've only had this for a week and I'm fairly certain this may be the last brand of knife i ever buy. Very sturdy and is 100% without flaws. First day i used this thing it was at work. Normally strip wires with my teeth and thought we'll really test this baby and make it need sharpened. So i used it to cut through small electric cables and insulation. To my amazement there was 0 resistance to cutting. Also after doing this there was no divot in the blade from when it cut the wires. Used it to open plenty of boxes, remove zip ties and this thing just holds an edge like no other. I'm a person who unboxes and assembles/delivers new appliances daily. And all the cardboard, tape and fishing line this thing has seen has done nothing. Going to be nervous sharpening this one, i want to keep it perfect. Not sure how much of this is handmade but it's amazing how great this thing fits in your hand and on your pocket lip, cuts, locks firm...i can't say enough. I'm very pleased, I've spent way more on much less quality.
