Sealed unit, easy to open box, easy to get components out. Though they claim 3 seconds to load and unload a drive, its more like 3 minutes to do the entire process, as the cover takes more than a few seconds to get it off and get it back on again, but its still a short amount of time and a lot less hassle than the screw-ion cases take.

The unit itself feels solid - the aluminum body helps with that and with heat dissipation. And the USB 3.0 interface keeps its transfer speeds at a respectable level; indicator lights also work well. No software or hardware issues, read equally well in Win 10 File Explorer and my file manager substitute.

I've only had this for a few weeks, but I use it for an external SSD for a sample library. I need access to it instantly, all the time, and it works flawlessly.

Installation was by FAR the easiest install for an external ever. Quality feels great, nice and sleek, like the minimal case for a phone we always want.

To install you literally open it and stick the drive in and it fits very snugly. Close the top - done, no screws or anything. Worked instantly, no setting up.

I can't speak for longevity yet, but if you're just looking for a basic easy to setup enclosure that's USB 3.0 and works with SSD, this is a good one.

I've replaced my laptop hard drive with SSD and it's a decent WD Blue 2.5inch Sata drive. So I purchased this USB 3.0 enclosure to convert it into an external portable hard drive.

What I like about it?
The material and construction quality of this enclosure is very solid and it doesn't feel like cheap plastic. Like the product description says, it's very slim and can easily fit into most of my pockets. The best part is that you don't need any tools to install hard drive. Just simple push it's back cover to open it and slide your hard drive in. Connect hard drive to SATA connector. There is a thick form padding on the inside of the back cover to provide solidity. Slide that back cover back in and that's it. There is no tiny little screws that you need to worry.

So far, I have no issue to use it on my desktop and laptop. My desktop has USB 3.0 ports and laptop has USB 2.0 ports. It works well on both type of ports. Transfer rate is much faster on USB 3.0 port for obvious reason.

Last note, like most of portable enclosures, you don't want to drop your hard drive in this enclosure. Of course, I haven't tested that part and don't plan to do so.

This drive enclosure is mindlessly simple to load with your SATA drive. Unsnap and slide off the cover, plug in the drive, and you've got a convenient portable USB 3.0-capable package that slips into a shirt pocket. At the price-point, this is a great wrapping for a spare SATA drive.

The plastic case is as small and tight as they can make it and still have it work well. It's a little tight getting the cover on and off, but that gets to be a learned skill and no problem. The KD-Links label they show in the picture is actually on the bottom. The top is clean, bereft of labels, logos, etc. It's a nice enclosure

To get the top off I put my two thumbs on the top of the case and pushed downward to release the catches. Simple and easy. Just DO NOT do it when a hard drive is spinning. It happened to me! All of a sudden I heard a screeching noise as the top cover of the drive was depressed into the spinning disk. I shut-down, checked out everything and didn't find evidence of damage. The data was backed up immediately. So far, everything checks out. I don't consider this a fault of the case, it was a defect in the operator. I'll bet that doesn't happen to me again. If you're lucky, and think first, it won't happen to you. This is your "ID 10 T" warning.

The fact that it's for SATA 1,2, and 3, plus SSDs is a plus, especially at this price. Better yet if you're a Prime member. Right now, it's at the top of my list for enclosures.

I bought a few different USB 3.0 hard drive enclosures for some old laptop drives I had laying around. All of them look almost identical in design and construction. They are designed of a hard plastic material with a simple slide off top. The only reason why I am rating this one 4-stars instead of 5 is that one of the other models transfers files more than twice as fast as this one does. On my Windows 10 media center, I tested out a 20gb file transfer to this drive and was getting around 25-40mb/sec. The other model I bought was giving me 60-70mb/sec. It must have something to do with the chipset inside. I did not research if there are any Windows 10 settings to tweak/adjust to get optimal USB 3.0 speeds yet. Either way, it is still faster than USB 2.0 transfer speeds and I am still happy with my purchase.

This was seriously impressive. It has square edges which is real nice, it's thinner than my other one and the installation was easy, as expected. What was really awesome was the speed. I have another one (Inateck 2.5 Inch USB 3.0) which I now don't like, haha, because it is as slow as old drives. This KDLINKS one is super fast and I may get another one to replace my Inatech case.
