Product Description

The USA-made Mountain Light II hiking boot is legendary for its unmatched quality, durability and support. GORE-TEX lining provides waterproof protection. The Vibram Kletterlift outsole offers lightweight comfort as well as superb shock absorption and guarantees great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces. Danner’s famous stitchdown construction provides a wider platform for stability and the lace-to-toe system provides a secure fit.

The Voyageur Mid is a rugged cruiser with its windows down for ventilation. Stripped of its waterproof barrier in favor of mesh lining, the Voyageur Mid allows for more ventilation on hot summer days. The aggressive outsole has 4mm lugs to bite into the terrain, providing excellent traction while the ESS shank provides torsional stability for a secure ride from valleys to mountaintops.

I've owned two pairs of these boots. I've worn out both, but gotten some enjoyable service also. Like most things, I've learned there are both pros and cons with them. First, the pros. These are very comfortable boots right out of the box needing little or no break in before steady use. The toe box is roomer than in most hiking boots. The lacing system afford nice tight lacing. They are very light weight and perfect for light duty walking and mild hiking. They offer good grip on any dry, firm surface. I've enjoyed mine as long as I use them within their limits. Now, the cons. I have done a lot of hiking in rugged dessert area with these boots. They DO NOT stand up to this kind of use. They wear out quickly, the soles tend to delaminate and the foot bed is not thick enough or strong enough to protect your feet on rough surfaces. Although they are not water proof, if they get wet they seem to break down quicker. Improved trail hiking in dry conditions is about their limit. Having owned a number of other Keen products, I expect more, from Keen and for this price.

Boots give good support, provide adequate ventilation, and great comfort.

However--3 months out since the purchase--the sole from one of the boots came loose and needs to be repaired--I would say a major repair for the boots just being 3 months old and Amazons return policy is so confusing--so basically you are pretty much on your own unless they decide to give a partial refund. I never have had a hiking boot do this--so I am wondering if these are factory seconds?

    Keen Men's Voyageur Mid Hiking Boot,Dark Earth/Burnt Henna,15 M US

Just a few years ago I purchased my first real hiking boots in a long, long time. I really didn't need hikers as much as I needed footwear that would keep me warm at an upcoming football bowl game. My team wasn't quite good enough to get a "warm-weather" bowl invitation so I just knew it would be cold. Nothing is worse than sitting in the stands with freezing feet and not being able to do anything about it.

I didn't buy my Keen Voyageur's that day. They are too airy and light for such duty. The boots I did buy were from a competitor and they did the job too well. Only problem is that they're only comfortable in cold conditions--at least to me. But they were comfortable, sturdy and delivered exactly what I was looking for.

The comfort intrigued me. I have some orthopedic issues as well as knee problems and getting the right footwear is essential. So I went back to the store that sold me my cold-weather hikers and asked what they had in a lightweight boot. The first shoe I was shown was a pair of Keen Voyageurs. I tried them on and it was an "aaaaaah" moment for me. The price wasn't the best but I know that you get what you pay for so I decided to go with the Keens.

I wore them almost everywhere. I even wore them to work. Probably not the best choice for office footwear but it was a comfort-first issue for me. One great thing was that I could put my orthotic inserts in after removing the liner that came with them and the fit was perfect. I began to wear them year round. A thicker pair of socks helps ward off the cold in normal activities (don't know how they'd work in a cold stadium...

I purchased these and have worn them on multiple hikes in the NC mountains. I would have to disagree with the other review because mine have held up well and feel great. The upper did take some breaking in but you should expect this with any boot that is going to provide adequate support. The only thing I haven't done is carry them with a substantial amount of weight on my back. (over 30 lbs.) The only reason they don't get a 4 is because I they do not do well stepping on smooth rocks in creeks/rivers once wet. The shoe does get a little slippery.

These hiking boots are great. Pretty comfortable although it took a while to break them in. I am disappointed in that after less than a year the rubber sole started to unglue from the upper part of the shoe. At this price point this should never happen to a shoe. What happened to shoe soles wearing down before the shoe actually needed to be replaced?

I love Keen shoes but was disappointed with these shoes overall performance.

Just used these for a canoe trip in the BWCA. These boots were the best! Water drained right out, feet were super warm and the days we saw sun, they dried out quicker than any other boots. Great support for the rocky portages and slippery rocks. Held up well to the extreme conditions and after being soaked for 8 days, cleaned up and look like new. Great boot!!

I took this pair of boots and absolutely beat them up working remotely in Myanmar bamboo jungles. They were very comfortable and durable. Ended up bringing them home to keep using them. Fantastic Product

If you are a Florida hiker you don't need these - crossfits are fine. We don't go far and except for an occasional levy we have no elevation at all.

You could easily spend a week out with a full summer pack anytime of the year in KEEN sandals.

So why use these in Florida?

First, better support so you'll feel better after a day in them. KEEN sandal support is exceptional but these are even better with ankle support as well.

Second, they dry quickly - no waterproofing except what KEEN does to their leather so they breathe extremely well. We say Florida soil is well-drained and so these would be appropriate as unofficial state boots.

Third, the unique KEEN toe is very wide so very comfortable, and the way KEEN leather - which never expands - fits your foot like vines growing up from the soles (note this is visible in the pics) you'll feel like they're form-fitted.

On the downside there appears to be more than a few reviews where souls separated. This hasn't happened to me but the special leather treatment might make gluing difficult. There's always something off about the look of KEEN seams... a ripple in the leather or some glue issues. I have not had problems yet and many of those reviews are 4 or 5 stars anyway, so for the advantages I think it is worth the risk.

Still a 5 star fit for me! The KEEN fit is like walking in mink.
