these shoes are almost exacly like the Targhee, looks like the same sole, but the targhee has more leather i believe, making them sturdier but less breathable than the voyageur.
overall i really like the voyageur was ready to rate it 4 stars but then the top loop for the lace on the on the right side of the right shoe broke, youll see in the photos its a canvas strap that circles around the heel to the other side. i guess with a little patience it could be repaired but i am returning them. i had a pair of merrels that broke like this and i switched to keen because of it.. i have ordered the saltzman to replace these ones but they again have the canvas loops for the laces... so we will see how they work out
*keen*:if the shoes were marginally marked up but they all had a metal tab or metal eylets i would still buy them, my logans are amazing they have been all over the Adirondacks and i took them to utah on vacation and they performed great.
keen makes a logan low but the amazon price fluctuates so much and is 150+ generally, will consider them in the future but right now they are to much $
I noticed another customer commented on the same problem. Attached picture, old shoe on left, even though its worn you can see the color difference.
Is there a problem with manufacturing?
The positives from there end - at least for me. I have somewhat narrow feet so the extra width didn't help and the shoes slid around on me. My number one complain however is the padding on the sole of the foot. Whatever material they use does not allow for a whole lot of give and shocks go right into your foot.
The shoes seemed to hold in quite a lot of heat, yet my feet were soaked during a heavy rainstorm. The design seems to hold water in so they take a while to dry off.
As with others have mentioned - these shoes started to come apart rather quickly. I re-glued the tread on the bottom but then the heel work out.
Going to keep searching for a good hiking shoe for summer and shoulder months.
I did buy the mid-boot; it is BETTER for stability...but because of the bood part. It is still unstable in the heel.
I’ll probably buy another pair...eithe Soloman or Merril...if they are just as horrible...I’ll gofe the stars back.
Ordered the 13's. Slightly roomy; can wear another pair of thin socks to firm up for a long walk. I usually don't for casual walking about house and town and they are fine.
Will probably buy the mid version too!
