KEEN Utility boots feature asymmetrical toe protection specifically made to fit your left and right foot, protecting from the big toe to the little toe. Our larger toe box lets your toes breath and spread out, the way they were meant to, and it allows room to move and flex, preventing pinching when the foot is hyper-flexed.
Molded reinforcement on the toe box safeguards against abrasion and mild impact. Combining functional design
and innovative shape, KEEN patented toe protection keeps your toes safe from the unexpected.
KEEN Utility is one of the only brands that brings the comfort and fit of a hiking boot into every single one of our work boots. The more natural, snug fit in the heel and a more spacious, intuitive toe box creates a one of a kind work shoe.
A waterproof, breathable membrane that lets vapor out without letting water in. Perspiration and moisture naturally produced by your body are able to escape, while at the same time keeping the wet out and keeping your feet dry.
KEEN brings their expertise to the job site with the Detroit work boot from their Utility line. A protective steel toe blends with the waterproof construction and aggressive tread for a performance-driven shoe. Ample padding keeps you comfortable.
From beaches to mountains to city streets, Keen believes the outdoors is anyplace without a ceiling. Keen believes in living a HybridLife, which means being part of a greater community that is full of people who create possibilities, play in the outdoors and care for the world around them.

The shoe isn't cute, or small- but then again, it is an industrial work boot with a steel toe... it does look more stylish than most of the women's (and men's) work boots out there.
These boots seem solidly constructed (I'll update later how well they actually hold up in the field), but are still reasonably light for work boots... much lighter than other steel toe shoes I've owned. So far they are easy to tie and move around in.
I've noticed lately that descriptions for many products on Amazon, such as this one, are inadequate. If you're ordering safety shoes, you most likely need them to comply with some safety policy (in my case I needed waterproof, steel toe, electrical hazard shoes), and this information should be clearly listed for the consumer. Since whoever listed this on Amazon failed to put any relevant safety information of this shoe in the description, I pulled some specs off Keen website, the important one being that it meets ASTM, ANSI standards:
Contoured heel lock
- Dri-Lex footwear lining with hydrophobic/hydrophilic 2-zone comfort technology
- Dual density compression molded EVA midsole
- KEEN.DRY (tm) waterproof breathable membrane
- Left and right asymmetrical steel toes
- Made on a women's last for better comfort and fit
- Meets or exceeds ASTM F2412-11 and F2413-11 I/75 C/75 EH standards
- Oil and slip resistant non-marking rubber outsole
- Reflective webbing for additional safety
- Removable metatomical dual density EVA footbed
- Torsion stability ESS shank
- Waterproof nubuck leather upper
I have had these shoes for almost a year, and am still pleased with them. The construction is holding together well, and the shoes function as they should. I've walked through some soggy fields, slushy snow, and they've been splashed with sludge, wastewater, etc. and have kept my feet clean and dry. Due to the color of the shoes, they don't really look especially dirty after all this. I've also spent some long days in these shoes, and support and comfort of these is good. The steel toe and mid-ankle rise have definitely helped to prevent or at least minimize foot injuries on a few occasions as well. I would definitely buy this brand and model of safety shoes again.
I have now had these boots for almost 5 years, and they are still going strong. Granted, with my current job I spend less time on jobsites, but when I do, these are still comfortable and durable. I've let colleagues borrow these (when they were travelling and forgot their shoes), and they LOVED them. I have been so impressed with these shoes, that I actually bought a similar hiking boot from Keen, which I wear more often now. http://a.co/b0zR4TV
