2.0 out of 5 stars These shoes don't last.
By Shawn on March 24, 2018
I changed my review, previously I rated these shoes 5-star. The first pair I owned, I wore for about 4 years working 45 hours per week and the shoes were great. This last pair, however, are only a year old and are junk. I noticed some small changes when I got these shoes but now the bottom of the shoe is deteriorating. The rubber is coming off and has a crack across the middle that impedes the water proofing affectiveness. These have gone from being the best work shoes I have used [1st pair] to one of the worst. No longer worth the money. These shoes are not the same quality that Keen used to be known for. Don't waste your money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Keen Soles are not up to snuff!
By Nicole Stewart on October 11, 2017
We purchased these shoes for my husband about a week ago. The soles are ALREADY starting to wear. He previously purchased a pair of hiking boots that he used for work and hiking and it only took a year for him to wear the soles straight through, even though Keen's are supposed to be a product that lasts. After much research, he went with this steel toed work boot with the expectation that the more heavy duty sole would hold up to his work. (He does sign installation for a living). We are very disappointed that we are already seeing significant signs of wear and tear to the soles in such a short time. I've given this a 2 star because we both love Keen products (both have sandals that are awesome and we've not seen this issue in them). We paid good money, so of course he will continue to wear them (and well, you can't really send them back for a refund at this point), but we are severely disappointed that more than likely, we are going to be replacing these in a year as well. The whole point of paying the money for the work boot was so that he had a boot that would last for a few years. With the next boot purchase, we will likely do more research (in other brands) and look outside of Keen for a work boot that will last longer.
Just as a note - we have contacted Keen and been directed to fill out the online warranty regarding this boot. So we hope to see this replaced and hope that we've just received a defective shoe. As I've said above- we love Keen brand!
Hopefully the next person will find this review helpful when they are considering purchase.
**The attached pictures show his shoe purchased from 1 year ago (the hiking boot) as well as the Pittsburgh Steel Toe that was just purchased.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fan of Keens but Dissappointed
By JCsman on September 15, 2016
I discovered Keen footwear approximately one year ago when I decided to purchase a pair of Flint Steel Toe shoes based solely on user reviews, something I have never done. I was totally blown away by the accuracy of reviews that I read and amazed at how comfortable they are right out of the box. I have since bought several pair.

Recently I was hired for a Railroad job as a freight conductor, a job that requires many hours of walking outside on various types of terrain. Having had such great success with Keen footwear I decided to invest in a pair Pittsburgh Steel Toe Work Boots. I purchased them through Amazon and like in times past, was satisfied with their fit and comfort right out of the box. I purchased these on August 10, 2016, a relatively short time ago. My first day on the railroad job was August 29, 2016 so I wanted to have them well ahead time to start on the first day. First week on the job was spent in the central office doing paperwork. I began working in the field on September 6, 2016. I was eager to start, especially since I had great footwear and knew that sore feet would not be a problem.

Just yesterday I noticed that the soles are already beginning to deteriorate, crack, and split (see pictures). In just two weeks times the soles look like they will not last a long amount of time. There was nothing in the description on Amazon or the Keen footwear website indicating that these shoes would not and/or should not be used for railroading, walking on ballast (rocks), and other terrain.

I feel that $165 for a pair of work boots is quite pricey especially for a pair of boots whose soles are already breaking down in such a short amount of time. I had no problem paying this amount as I was confident that these Keen Pittsburgh boots would last at least a few months before beginning to break down. I have read that Keen has excellent customer service so I am going to contact them. I am sorely disappointed in these boots. There is no other issue with these boots, perhaps I received a faulty pair. They still deliver on comfort, hands down. Perhaps they are only meant for concrete or flat ground.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just perfect
Reviewed in Canada on January 13, 2022
Just a perfect size working boots. I’m a big fan of keen boots and shoes. They are reliable comfortable and durable. If you go with a Waterproof model they are very performant in wet condition. I live in Quebec, Canada and we used to have a lot of snow and slushy condition in winter. I can rely on this product and impressed by the craftsmanship. I like order them directly from Amazon because usually they have all the colors all the models instead of going shopping to the outdoor store they usually only keep Fewe model in store. Never had an issue always receive a brand new pair never been wear In mint condition. Those boots are Little bit heavy but very comfortable. I like order in regular size they usually are narrowed to the heel in plenty of space for the toes. You can sometime after them half a size longer just to make sure this is what I do. I personally recommend keen shoes and boots to everyone they are more expensive than other shoes what you can beat the quality.
