When I found out that pre-grated cheese has some sort of potato starch or other preservative in it to keep the shreds from sticking together, I wanted to buy natural block cheese and grate my own. I haven't used the other two components yet, but the cheese grater works great, is easy to use and super easy to clean. And I don't have to worry about taking off my fingertips like a flat grater... I will try the "slicer" option tomorrow to make some zucchini chips for the football games. Nice little kitchen gadget.

When I found out that pre-grated cheese has some sort of potato starch or other preservative in it to keep the shreds from sticking together, I wanted to buy natural block cheese and grate my own. I haven't used the other two components yet, but the cheese grater works great, is easy to use and super easy to clean. And I don't have to worry about taking off my fingertips like a flat grater... This grater is so useful!! We use it to grade cheese all the time. However, when we started using it to grate carrots, the handle pieces separated because of the increased torque required to grate carrots vs softer things like cheese and snapped off within a couple of weeks. I drilled a couple of small holes and tied the two pieces of the handle together using some wire and it worked great. After that it hardly ever snaps off and the handle stays together. Btw I used some spare cat5e plastic covered wire.
I was looking at other similar rotary graters and some have single piece handles which might be more robust. If I were to buy another one or for someone else, I would consider buying a different one with a sturdier handle. However, we’ve had ours for over a year and a half and so we’ve definitely have had our money’s worth. With the handle patch I put on it, I think it’ll still last a while longer. ^_^

Suction on this is terrible. It’s a good idea but this product definitely is more trouble than I expected... the suction doesn’t work so I have to try to hold it steady and turn and push down the food... also I thought this would be good for scalloped potatoes but they’re too thin and honestly weird shapes and pieces (I used the bigger blade obviously). Lastly, I found that the food gets stuck in the sides so there is a lot of stopping to clean involve... I wish I hadn’t bought this
