The case looks just like the original. The literature and description states that it has to be programmed by a locksmith or dealer. The locksmith I went to charges $35 to program, much better price than the dealership. I can't comment on the fucntionality as I ended up returning it. The reason I returned it was because the locksmith was able to solder the battery holder on my original fob. You may want to check that out if that's why you're looking to get this. Kudos to the seller though as I usually only buy Amazon Prime items, but the seller was professional and accomadating in processing my return.

This does not work for my car. I took it to the dealership and they told me that I was sent the wrong remote and that this is not for a Buick LaCrosse.

Works and looks great! The 2008 Pontiac G6 require dealership programming (or a locksmith with the right external device to do that), but it's still saved me around $100 for the remote itself.
I guess not all sellers sell the same identical item, I got mine from "Your Key Supplier" and I can't be happier.

*** I don't have it enough time to comment on it's reliability but if I'll have any issues I will update my review.

Edit: I lowered the score to 4 stars because after only 1 month the metal ring that holds the battery disconnected from the circuit board. It was really easy to fix (again, great support from "your key supplier"), but still not everybody's willing to open and fix stuff by themselves, and there's a risk of losing the really-expensive programming if you wish to replace the unit.

Bottom line, I'm still very happy with this purchase.

Ordered this key remote for my 2005 Malibu Maxx. I compared the part number on the remote to the one that worked (once upon a time) for my car. They seemed to match up. I took the remote to my dealer and they said they would program it for $45 or so. They agreed that it appeared to be the correct remote. They tried several times to program the remote to work with my vehicle but could not get it to work successfully. After that they said they recommended that I buy a remote from them for $120 as they were going to charge me the programming fee whether I bought their remote or not (since they had attempted several times to program the FOB from Amazon).

So long story short - not only didn't this remote work, but it ended up costing me the difference between the dealer remote and this one (!!!). So be very careful about deciding to purchase this remote. I will be returning this to the seller but as I mentioned, it doesn't make up for the money I'm already out on the situation. VERY UNSATISFIED.

**EDIT**

I did receive my money back from the seller after the dealer was unable to program the remote. So I upgraded my review to 2 stars due to timely and good customer service. I still would not recommend this remote.

I purchased this fob 2 years ago and even though my mechanic was able to program it successfully, the housing has crumbled, the battery holder on the inside has come off and I need to again replace this part:(

Not much to say. They had to be programmed on my 05 LaCrosse ($75 at my Buick dealer) and worked perfectly when done. A lot less expensive that buying from a dealer and, as far as I can tell, are just as good. This is my second purchase of these fobs and others are still working perfectly.

Awesome product that works great! Don't bother trying to program yourself I tried, you need to go to the dealer. My local buick dealer charged me $49 to program. They didn't even mention that it wasn't made by manufacturer. So with product and programming this came to about $65. Out of curiosity I asked the dealer how much it would have been new from them --120-170.

Would highly recommend this product. I purchased 2 remotes for my 2007 Buick Lacroose. Worked as advertised. My two orginial remotes were just tired. One died completely and the other one I was able to fix. The clip that holds the battery on in the back of the remote came loose. I took good old crazy glue and reattached the battery bracket to the remote.

I did call a local locksmith and he wanted $25.00 a remote to reprogram. So I decided to call my local GM dealer and I almost fainted when he stated that he would reprogram them both for $15.00 and while he was at it he would also reprogramed my old remote also. Great deal.

We have been using them for about a month now and they are working just fine. I would recommend this item form this Amazon supplier..........Price was great also.
