The 250 grit coarse side is used to quickly refurbish a really dull or badly nicked tool. The medium 1000 grit side will remove coarse scratches and prepare the tool for final polishing and honing. KING Waterstones are recognized for their quality and affordability. Stone size: 8" x 2" x 1". Soak in water and keep wet while in use.

This stone is not for finishing. The 250 grit is pretty course and I tend to use it for reshaping jacked knives into a convex edge. I then follow it up with the 1000 and then polish with a 6000.
Things to remember while using it:
1) Let it soak for 15 minutes before use.
2) Leave the stone/water residue on the whetstone while sharpening.
3) Add water as the stone gets dry.
4) Sharpen each side for ~10 minutes.
The 350 Grit Side cuts VERY FAST so be cautious - great for re-profiling a bad blade grind, or just to make things how you like...
The 1000 Grit Side is SOFT and makes a very nice slurry and does a nice job as an intermediate grit as far as I am concerned. Great for averaging a single bevel - or cleaning up after the 350 in preparation for finishing with a higher grit - good scratch pattern - useful stone... I do believe that it will wear fast because it is on the soft side of things.
At the price, simple and painless to replace.
