The other Kirsch rods we own had sturdy pullers, this has a puny one, which will undoubtedly not serve the job well. The instructions indicated the same strong pull we have on the others.
So I will call Kirsch on Monday and have them send out a proper part.
The instructions are very poor, mostly sketches and virtually no written directions other than the usual CYA warnings and instructions about safety and liability regarding the pull cord. While on the subject of pull cord, the rods are supplied with a very long cord. Which is a good idea, because Kirsch doesn't know how wide you will adjust the rod, or how high it will be mounted. However, if the cord needs to be shortened, there are absolutely NO instructions for shortening the cord. Luckily I have some experience with mechanical detailing and drafting, so I could figure it out without too much trouble. But the average homeowner may be helpless here due to the lack of instructions. I needed to shorten the cord by about 4 feet, as supplied it was dragging on the floor.
Kirsch also supplies a "Tension Device For Traverse Rods" which is a clear plastic assembly. It seems more like a cord guide than a tension device. There is no pulley, just a u-shaped plastic part. It also has absolutely no instructions regarding its use, mounting, or application.Read more ›
This is an update, a month after the initial review. I want to change the name again from Misses the Mark to Traverse Rod from Hell. I went through a lengthy procedure to reach the seller and ask for the missing hardware (several hours of phone calls/waiting on hold/waiting for email replies process). After a week, I received four brackets--but not the correct kind. So I contacted them again. This time, after another week, I received the correct kind, but only two of them. When we finally got everything we needed and installed the rod, the drapes did not close properly. We spent a couple of hours trying to figure out what we were doing wrong. After we had just about given up in total disgust we had the sense to google "Kirsch Traverse Rod doesn't open properly" and found numerous entries from people having the same problem, and fortunately found a simple solution to fix it (that should be on the instructions but isn't).
Overall a terrible experience.
Even if it were wide enough, my handyman showed me that there were not enough mounts for a ceiling attachment. I have another traverse rod already installed that shows that 4, not just 2, ceiling mount pieces are needed. I was very disappointed that the product description reads "Wall or ceiling mount, ALL HARDWARE INCLUDED".
At the very least, find out how many center supports you will need before ordering, and then if you will need more than included in the box, order those "center brackets" at the same time.
I recommend watching the following video from Drapery Rod Direct for how to attach the rod to the ceiling: [...]
My BIG complaint is that there are not enough travers slides included to hang the drapes appropriate for this size rod? Hello/
At least state that they have to be purchased separately. Seriously! I can't hang my drapes now until I locate and buy the little slides.
Not happy it's December 15th and wanted these hung for Christmas. Nothing like last minute unnecessary drama/aggravation

Bought these to replace, what turned out to be, vintage Kirsch rods in a bedroom. These look really nice, extend easily, and have very easy to use supports for longer lengths. Read morePublished 3 months ago by outwest
