It manages to strike a fantastic balance of providing inspiration and an underlying bedrock of optimism, without sugar coating the effort, planning, and patience required to execute on the strategies he outlines in the book. This combination of insight, honesty, and pragmatic advice is what makes this book such a great read.
Known offers a fully fleshed out approach - full of practical exercises to help provide focus and direction, case studies to illustrate how people have executed on their personal strategies, and removes the ego from the equation. Becoming known isn't about becoming famous, it's about becoming known. That was an important distinction for an introverted professional like myself that tends to disdain attention seekers.
Mark writes with a personal vulnerability that allows him to be someone who teaches from his own struggles rather than from some floating island of expertise. I think the best praise I can offer this book is that it has spurred me to take real action on my own plan more than any other content I've taken in over the past year. Worth your time and money.
Of course having great products and providing an outstanding service are important. But, if nobody knows who you are or, knows about your products and services, what difference is it going to make? In his book, “Known: The handbook for building and unleashing your personal brand in the digital age” internationally respected author, Mark Schaefer, shares his path, and the path hundreds of others have taken, to become known and achieve digital business success. I enjoyed Mark's book so much that I'm now recommending it to all my business clients. Enough said!
