What a waste of time.
On the description for this card it states "Min 150MB/second sequential read and Min 100MB/second sequential write".
Reality was that this card, using Blackmagic design's Disk Speed test using a Lexar firewire 800 card reader, rated at a MAX write time of 60MB/s. I need consistant 70MB/s for my planned application of this card for shooting RAW on my Canon 50D with ML firmware. I thought maybe in camera it would be faster. So I formatted the card in camera and tested the ML raw record. I got to 88 frames before the buffer ran out of room.
I will never buy Komputer bay again. They say you get what you pay for, but I didn't even get that.
After writing this review I thought I'd try contacting them one last time (after two months of trying) and I finally got through on the phone! It was busy the first two times I called so I waited and tried again and finally got ahold of them. The customer support was nice. He offered a tool that I could try (that didn't end up working) along with a form to warranty the card. Now we'll see how quickly I can get a replacement. This review could go to 3 if the replacement goes well but because of how difficult the customer support was it will never go to 4/5 =/
I got this card to test out RAW recording on the Canon 5D Mark II and Mark III. It worked for the first six months I had it and then it just stopped being recognized.
This is supposed to have a 'Lifetime Warranty.' I've tried all the avenues of contact that I can find and have yet to hear anything over the last two months. The product worked and would have received a 5 but since there is non-existant customer service this gets a 1.
There is no LIFETIME WARRANTY because there is no customer service. This was a waste. I'll be buying Lexar or Transcend as they have great customer service and actually fulfill their lifetime warrant claim (I've had to replace a few cards with them before).
KB 1000x 32gb CF card performs admirably.
I bought it with intention of using for raw video on my 5D MKII. The fastest card I owned was a sandisk extreme 60 Mb/S and it already allowed me pretty good frame sizes. This KB card however allows me to shoot raw with almost no crop, squeezing more than 70Mb/S out of the 5D2 write buffers.
Other useful piece of information is that this 32gb model is probably the fastest amongst KB cards according to ML forum users.
Great card, I don't know if it will last long but it sure accomplishes what it promises.
