The KONG Story
KONG founder, Joe Markham, loved his trained police dog, Fritz, but did not love his destructive chewing habits. Where other dogs might have chewed your shoes or favorite purse, Fritz loved to crunch on rocks, sticks and other harmful items. Fritz’s teeth were wearing down and his need for stimulation and play was not being met, and Joe was frustrated.
One day, while working on a VW Bus, Joe began throwing out car parts to Fritz to lure him away from those rocks. Fritz was immediately taken with a rubber suspension part and dropped it in Joe’s lap to play. The erratic bounce and toughness of the rubber inspired Joe.
We’ve been making KONGs from our own proprietary, pet-safe, built-to-chew rubber ever since. Dogs love KONG. The way it bounces keeps them engaged and ready to play. It has a soft mouth feel for a satisfying chew and, of course, it’s super durable. Owners love KONG too; they can stuff it, throw it, leave it out in the yard — KONG keeps coming back for more.
Dogs and their owners choose the original KONG and all of our other favorite toys because they’re fun. KONG toys are the best of the best in quality, originality, variety, safety, and value. Give a dog a KONG. They’ll be the first to show you: it’s not just a toy, it’s a KONG.

1. The pink elephant has stood the test of time. It's been about 3 months and Mr. pink elephant is still intact. He is usually the favorite to be taken to bedtime. The squeaker still works!
2. The moose is still going strong too, but for whatever reason isn't loved as much as the elephant.
3. The rabbit died rather quickly. Probably about 2 weeks before shreds of bunny ears were found scattered around the house.
4. The alligator didn't even make it a couple hours before being decapitated.
5. The Rhino is now split in two pieces, but Rocky still loves to carry around the halves. He dug in the trash to get them back when I tried to throw it away.
6. Lion- Hasn't been given to the dogs yet, we are moving and separating the dogs, this will be a gift to the one dog as an apology as his brother slowly destroys all his beloved toys.
I got this toy for my German Shepherd puppy from the beginning. This was the first toy I gave her at 8 weeks when I went to pick her up.
She loved this thing which lasted for until she was 8 months and decided to kill it completely while I was at work.
The squeaker did get punctured when she got to be around 6 months and all her adult teeth came in, but at that point it was a good toy for her to play with when I needed her to be a bit quite and didn't want to hear a continuous squeak squeak squeak.
I would recommend this toy to people getting a puppy, but as far as it being a toy for an teen and/or adult dog I do not recommend it.
This toy has held up to daily playing and chewing for the last 5+ months. And he is NOT easy on his toys! Marvin is hands down his favorite toy! We say "go get your moose" and he runs through the house searching for it! A+++ will buy again. Considering buying several and keeping them hoarded away in the closet in case they ever stop making them!!
I included some pictures of my dogs (chihuahua and pug) for size reference and to show how much the pug is clearly yearning for the moose.
When I got it out for him to remove the tag, I saw the cautionary note that it IS NOT A CHEW TOY. Well, come on now. It is marketed as being for dogs! What else are we gonna have him use it for? Are we supposed to decorate his bedroom with it? He's a dog. He chews. Kong has made a name from making sturdy toys. Please!
After he devoured his birthday salmon and ate his party hat, Ox settled down with his new stuffed lamb. He received it after dinner and by the time we went to bed, it was gutted. The only happy news is that he still carries it around with him like a cross between a security blanket and a bearskin rug.
This is her favorite toy, I will try to get her other Kong toys like this now that I know they will last longer than most. They are her favorite toys to play with.
Well this guy has passed the 24-hour test at my house. With 3 dogs, 2 being aggressive chewers who LOVE fuzzy stuffed toys, I don't expect anything to last more than a day. And when it does, I feel pretty good about the quality of the product! Previous to this guy the only thing to last this long was the Kong Wubba Friends (they don't care about it if it doesn't have fur), but those are so expensive, so I thought I would try something different. I purchased the Kong Cozie Lion and the Kong Beaver stuffing-less toy at the same time. Poor Mr. Beaver didn't last 5 minutes. He was gutted on the floor almost immediately. And it's not that they loved Beaver more than Lion - they both got equal attention. The Cozie toys are just durable. He has an extra layer of what feels almost like ballistic material underneath his fur, and that helps him hold up to the biting and puncture wounds. Ultimately his downfall will be the removal of a leg, and then the un-stuffing game begins. But I have to give him 5 stars for lasting a day in my house!
