My wolfdog pup (7 months and right in that chewing stage) tore the feet off quite easily but actually carries them around like little prizes, so I haven't tossed them. The braided center loop of the body is actually ingenious, because she still haven't even begun to get it apart (4 months later) and NO STUFFING!!! The absolute best aspect of this toy is that there's no stuffing in the body to pick up after she's gotten to it. I am quite impressed with this toy and will order another when (and if) it finally gets destroyed. I would highly recommend it for any less-aggressive chewers, even! I am even moreso impressed with the price (especially as an add-on item) because I anticipated it to be a throw-away toy. However, with how long it has been standing up to the dogs' antics, I can't believe it was so reasonably priced.
If you like toys that remain entirely intact we've had much better luck with the goDog chew guard toys, Tuffy brand toys, Outward Hound Firehose tug, ChuckIt Fetch balls, and of course the classic Kong treat/chew toys.
All of those have survived months/years of wear and tear from a very active Boston Terrier that loves to pull the stuffing out of every toy he meets.
So when this came up on my amazon reccomended list, I thought it was the perfect hybrid and bought it immediately.
Bella loves it! As we predicted, she destroyed the penguin head, but the body is holding up remarkably well. Her new favorite toy is this headless penguin. Maybe if they used a canvas material for the little body parts that stick out, the limbs wil last longer?
