I finally found the solution!!! Here's my 3-Step Secret, that needs a ZoomGroom in every step.
Step 1: With a ZoomGoom in each hand, I quickly brush our lab.
Step 2: I bath her and work the shampoo thru her fur using the ZoomGroom.
Step 3: After her bath, I brush out any loose hairs with the ZoomGroom, and then a Furminator type brush.
For Maintenance, I quickly brush her with the ZoomGroom each day. Sometimes I brush a de-shedding spray into her coat with the ZoomGroom.
Our dog loves being brushed!
ZoomGroom gets so much hair, we could probably make a really nice sweater out of it!
Use it on wet or dry fur!
Using two ZoomGrooms at once, I get a really good work out!
ZoomGroom works so well that it will be filled with hair. Getting the hair out can be tricky. Hitting it against the floor gets the majority of the hair out.
I am not sure what I was expecting when I bought this brush, but it is not quite what you would think. The brush is not a traditional material for brushes. It is a rubber type thing that causes the hair to stick to the brush, somewhat.
I have a large dog that sheds way more than you would think a short haired dog would. I think he waits for me to finish vacuuming and then runs around shaking so his hair will end up everywhere imaginable.
The brush is firm without being stiff. It fits nicely in my hand and slides well through his short hair. What I have noticed it that it grabs some hair, throws some hair around and misses some hair. I will say it does a better job than the other brush I tried but then that is only comparing it to one other brush.
The “bristles” are made out of the same rubber material. They are fairly widely spaced and hair does get trapped in between when you use it. You have to stop after a couple of swipes and clean it out so that it will get more hair.
I have had it close to a year. I have tossed it all over the place and my 100 pound pittie has grabbed it to carry around and if I had let him, I am sure he would have attempted to destroy it. It is a Kong product and those tend to be more durable so I am not worried about it being destroyed.
The price is reasonable (currently) for what you are getting. I would recommend it assuming you don’t think it will get all the loose hair off the dog. It will get a lot and that for me is acceptable.
I used the ZoomGroom on my dogs entire body and places I didn't feel comfortable using the FURminator, like his head, because I knew it would hurt. The ZoomGroom gets almost all of the hair, but I found the FURminator is way better at getting my dogs fluffy undercoat that he has around his neck, shoulders and black legs.
For people who own a dog with a soft fluffy coat I think this is still a good product, but I recommend investing in something like the FURminator to finish everything off because it makes a big difference.
Overall good product, I like using it and will continue to use it.
As for people saying this isn't a good toy along with grooming brush, you need to use your common sense on this one. It may say toy at the end of the title but nowhere in the details or description does it say "use as toy as well." It's a slightly firm but malleable hunk of plastic, of course it's not going to be a good chew toy. So take the extra few seconds to put it away so it doesn't get chewed to death. It's worth keeping around.
