That being said, some of the pieces were a little harder to snap together (or wouldn't come apart after putting them together), but I was very satisfied with this purchase and would pay half as much for KRE-Os over Legos any day. Solid build, the cannons are pretty cool, and some of the pivoting action I have not seen in Lego sets.
The figurines are fun, especially the flying alien! All pieces accounted for and didn't have many issues putting it together. Be sure to put the stickers on properly!! :)
The only thing that was a drawback is that the pieces do not come in organized packages the same way Lego sets do, so when the instructions tell you you need a specific piece, it can be very difficult to have to look through 500 pieces to find the one you need.
In our house, this set is definitely the high point of pride amongst all the Lego sets!
I read all the reviews (thanks to all of you!), which left me with just one concern. Because my grandson has an autism spectrum disorder and some reviewers had commented on some problems -- or needing extra adult help -- in the assembly, I did ponder whether E. might get frustrated or lose his attention span over the long period of time required. But this darling little boy (after waiting till the house was quiet on Christmas night at our suggestion) asked to do it by himself, sat for three hours straight, referring to the instruction manual, and only asking for a little help from Dad (a mechanical engineer) in putting the final tiny pieces together! He played with it every day for a week or so and then took the entire ship apart just so that he could reassemble it in his own design this time. (I wasn't there but suspect he used many of his own large collection of real Legos in doing so, as I had told him they were interchangeable when he'd opened the present Christmas morning.)
I hope that my relaying of our family's story will not be lost on those of you who -- like us, our child's teachers and counselor -- were quite disturbed by the media's unfortunate coverage of the sad event surrounding this Christmas time as far as ASD children are concerned. For us, it was heart-warming and eye-opening beyond words to witness what could lie ahead in this child's future. I don't expect to be around that long; but privately, just the phone call from him to me that his Grammy's present was his favorite of all brought my own special joy.
