The S8.4 powered studio subwoofer builds upon KRK’s legacy for sonic accuracy in a compact form factor. The custom-voiced, glass-aramid woofer delivers tight, defined bass, while the Class-D power amplifier dramatically increases transient response, control and punch. The four-position selectable crossover lets you adjust the subwoofer setting easily to your existing monitors.
Pairing the S8.4 subwoofer with KRK or another studio monitor delivers an optimized mixing and listening experience with extended low end, while the exclusive bypass-control feature provides full range audio to the monitors without switching off the subwoofer. In sleep mode it does not pass a signal to the mid/high speakers connected to the sub, but only takes 4 seconds max, after receiving a signal to wake back up and gently bring up the main speakers. They have it set exactly right to not be annoying. Mine never enters sleep mode while I'm using my computer.

Paired with my KRK Rokit 5s, it sounds amazing, essentially firing right in my face from behind my computer monitor. One interesting thing is, it does go into sleep mode after some hours of non-use. In sleep mode it does not pass a signal to the mid/high speakers connected to the sub, but only takes 4 seconds max, after receiving a signal to wake back up and gently bring up the main speakers. They have it set exactly right to not be annoying. Mine never enters sleep mode while I'm using my computer.
