An absolute must for anyone that enjoys freshly ground "whole-bean" coffee made in a French Press! (compare to any chain coffee shop, you will never go back!)
a. Both grinders are fairly powerful and do the basic job well which is grinding the coffe beans.
b. Mr. Coffee has some additional settings in terms of desired coarseness, cup size of the beans which is missing from the KRUPS grinder. In all honesty, I never used the feature in Mr. Coffee and mostly judged the coarseness by eye.
c. The most important distinction which made me dislike the product is that this is horrible design if you want to store the coffee beans for later use. As soon as you open up this grinder, closing the lid back with coffee still inside locks the lid in place and makes it really hard to remove it the next time around. I have spilt a lot of coffee grind trying to do this. The only workaround is to consume the coffee at once after grinding or store it another container.
d. This design also makes it difficult to clean the grinder. With Mr. Coffee the top was separated from the motor and was dishwasher safe.
3/5 for inherently bad design.
Note: I added label pics because someone asked about voltage
This isn't exactly what I thought it was going to be. I watched many videos on coffee grinders and this was my 2nd choice I ordered this instead of my 1st choice by mistake. Anyways, it's a bit messy and I don't like having to lift the whole thing up to dump out. It works and you just hold the button down till your beans are ground up. You have to play around with it to know how many seconds to hold down. It's small and compact and looks nice on the coffee cart.

If this is your first foray into grinding your own coffee beans then I would look no further!
The KRUPS F20342 had good reviews but seems a little flimsy and when I went to grind beans I found it much noisier than the Kenwood.
The blades seem higher and the oval shape leaves corners so if, like me, you use a dark roast then the grinds hide and you have to spoon them out.
OK, but with these design flaws I wish I'd gone for a cheaper model as this doesn't deliver the quality I expected.
If you consider buying a grinder, you'd better think of something that will last longer than 30 days.
I poured a full bottle of mustard seed into it (about 30g) and it only filled the unit less than half full (says it will take 75g) and took only a few seconds to grind to powder. Did the same with a full pot of ancho chillies and despite the seeds and flat dried leaves it zapped it in a few seconds.
The cleaning takes only a few seconds and I used a small bristle pastry brush and it worked a treat with just a small wipe with a piece of kitchen towel to polish it up. I like this piece of kit a lot. It works well, costs a fair price and feels like it will last if its used as intended and I actually enjoyed using it, so 5 stars for this one.
I loved this at first but after only a handful of times using it, it broke. The blades just stopped going around but because it’s over a year old there’s nothing I can do. Unimpressed and certainly not what I expected from a quality brand like Krups.
We use it on everything from grinding fresh coffee which it can grind to a multitude of requirements, freshly, each morning, to making my own homemade spice blend, from authentic garam masala to freshly ground cumin/cardamon/coriander seed/cinnamon sticks/star anise/mustard seeds the list really is endless..
The list is endless - literally, I have a cupboard full of fresh, small batch powders for A robust culinary experience by adding depth of flavour, all done in this single machine. If it can handle tough coffee beans, it can take almost anything.
We love this little little grinder so much that over the years we have gifted it many times as part of a house warming hampers and likeminded-foodie newly weds alike.
If you're looking for a good quality burr coffee grinder or even if you're searching for a fine grinding dry spice grinder - look no further!
I found taking the lid off when I’d finished grinding the beans allowed coffee to drop off the lid and make a mess, so I turn the unit upside down and tap the bottom, knocking the coffee into the lid and then remove the base leaving the lid underneath and full of ready to use coffee grinds. I just find it works better for me, and the spillage issue would be my only niggle with this machine. It’s minor and easy to get around so I’ve not knocked any stars off.
Cleaning is easy enough, I just use kitchen roll, dry initially to knock any remaining coffee off the sides and the blade and then damp to give it a good wipe out - the coffee sticks to the damp paper. I use this machine several times a day and I’m really pleased with it. Good value and does the job I need it to do. The lid I just wash up by hand once a day.
I suspect that the odd oval shape of the container is to blame. Lumps get caught in the oval ends. It is also not very powerful at 180 W, but other coffee grinders have managed nuts with this power.
I tried sunflower seeds = OK, but large pumpkin seeds (out of their shells), were unevenly ground! Pathetic performance. DO NOT BUY this if you want to grind any NUTS.
I do find it quite loud though, compared to a blender or magic bullet. It sends my cats running out of the kitchen and wakes up my sleeping husband so on weekends I need to grind enough for a few days or wait until he's awake before I use it. But wow, best coffee I've ever had. It really does make a huge difference grinding the beans right before you drink
it instead of buying pre-ground coffee or grinding it the day before.
My only real issue with this grinder is that it's very hard to clean. I was hoping to use it for a few different things but that's definitely not going to be possible because you really can't get in there to clean it thoroughly enough.
But overall for the price and effectiveness, I'm happy with it and would recommend it as a coffee grinder.
