Background: I have owned 3 Krups Moka F468B coffee makers in the past 10 years and have used them every day I am at home to brew, what to me is, great tasting cups of coffee. It is the perfect coffee maker for me. I like ( need ) my coffee so much, I have always had a spare machine, after one got lost in a move. I now have two spares, though one of them will now permanently be in my camper.
This new model delivers a cup of coffee that is ( to me ) indistinguishable from the old model in taste, aroma and color.
Here are the differences from the old model to this new one.
The plug is now 3 prongs and the cord is tubular, not flat. The cord management system seems to work much better - I no longer have to gently twist the cord for it to stay in place in the cable-channel.
Automatic turn-off. ( big plus ) I currently have my F468 on a timer. I am not sure how long after brewing the Krups turns off, but I think it is less than an hour after the brewing stops. Since it never was meant to keep the coffee warm, this is a very welcome energy/safety feature. The lighted switch clicks back to the off position by itself.
Built in basket permanent filter - no more paper filters. ( big plus ) Even though I found that inexpensive paper filters made for percolator models worked just fine, it is just one less thing to have to deal with.
Besides having a permanent filter, the grounds basket is a little different - the new basket will fit the old carafe, the old basket will NOT fit the new carafe. From a couple of runs, I have noticed the coffee grounds do not “bloom” to the top and leave grounds on the lid. The permanent filter delivered the same amount of sediment that I get from the paper filter, no real change there.
It is a little lighter than the old model. It is about 1/2 inch higher, but the base is the same diameter. The base also does not have the step cutout, so in general, the new model looks ‘sturdier’ or bigger.
Styling is a little different, less curves and everything more ‘modern’ and has a clean squared off look.
The tank and its cover are brushed steel, no longer chrome. ( water spots should be easier to deal with ) The main body is now a matte finish black and should also be much easier to keep looking spiffy.
The carafe is pretty much the same, they seem to be interchangeable, but I have not tried that. The new carafe is marked with two cup scales, on one each side of the handle. Pours just like the old model, no dribbles.
The carafe lock/unlock seems to work ‘easier’, though it has a chrome finish and is a fingerprint magnet.
Brew time is about the same, maybe a little faster. Brewing sounds are the same.
Still no timer ( so if you need that, it will be a separate purchase ), personally I am fine with that - one less thing to break.
The manual ( and pictures above ) still show filling the tank with the carafe. That still does not work well and I will still be using a quart jar for an easy, clean and quick fill.
So, if you are looking to replace one you have, or pick up a spare - just in case - this is a no-brainer purchase. Same look and operation, delivering the same great coffee. ( and no more searching eBay for the old discontinued model which usually sell for more than this new model)
Time will tell if it preforms as well as the last model, but with a two year warranty ( and a backup in the cupboard and camper ) my mornings and attitude will be as good as they can be.

So I removed the seal, cleaned the area and things improved for a while, but again no joy. I ordered a replacement seal on-line from a Krups authorized parts supplier, but when it came it didn't fit. Turns out there are no replacement seals available for the newer models.
So I went to Krups for help and the bottom line was most unfortunate. I have to ship my coffee maker back to an authorized service center and wait 2-3 weeks for word on repair/replacement. That's not wait for a new/repaired unit, but wait for word of the Krups decision.
Good grief. If the machine were two - three years old, that would make sense, but it was purchased from Amazon in March - a little over 6 months ago.
C'mon Krups, develop your sense of customer service. At the end of the day, the bitter taste in my mouth is not from the coffee ... Bottom line: Great machine; meh service.
