<Update - 1 year later and about 50 very thick smoothies and 50 pancake batches later and it is still working as well as it did on day one. I discovered by accident that the inner blade attachment pops out rather easily for cleaning, just give is a slight squeeze where the 2 lips that hold it in place are. I generally take it apart and put everything in the dishwasher when finished. Sometimes my smoothies get a bit too thick and I have to give the motor a rest because it starts to smell a bit like it is being over worked, but that is my fault, not its fault. Other blenders probably would have just turned off long before then and I would be forced to make much thinner smoothies. I'd rather decide for myself when it is being overworked rather than have it turn off automatically at 80% of the maximum force.>

I am replacing a Cuisinart CB600SA that we picked up at Costco about 10 years ago, I think, which I recently broke by dropping it.

This 1,000 watt Krups is far, far quieter, more powerful, bigger capacity, locking lid, dishwasher safe, ingenious locking jar bottom (you must turn the pitcher up side down to remove the bottom).

It starts out slow every time and builts up speed (no more stuff spraying out of the blender if you forget to put the top on).

I spent a lot of time researching and seriously considered spending 500 on a Vitamix or Blendtec, but the more I read, the more I wanted a blender that was designed to spin more slowly with thicker gauge windings and higher torque. The V. and B. machines are designed to spin at high speeds without a lot of torque and will shut off for a very long time if the machine thinks you are overheating the motor (easy to do when the wires are thinner).

Blender arrived and works excellent. Blender looks even nicer in person. I will buy from this vendor again. Has a nice feature where it starts slow and speeds up over a few seconds so that it does not splash. Automatically shuts itself off if it jams so it does not burn itself out. Professional appearance and good quality thick glass, very generous volume capacity.

I bought this blender after assessing every problem I'd ever had with every blender I've ever owned, after 3 days of online research, and after subscribing to Consumer Reports website (well worth it). I've owned 4 blenders in 12 years. While that may seem an acceptable turn-over, the cost was over $200.00 and the quotidian performance, never more than mediocre. My gripes ranged from structural severities to personal peccidillos. The pre-ground flax seeds never really "blended," preferring to sink to the bottom of all concoctions. The ice never really blizzarded into "snow." And the hummus? Just a thought that never materialized because the chickpeas and tahini never mixed into a suspended, whipped delight; instead I got a soggy, lumpy, ingredient-separate mess. Also, there was never any depreciable difference among the many speeds, other than noise. My Oster 6812-001 Core 16-Speed Blender was a joke as far as speeds were concerned. It was more "permanent hearing loss" and less Daft Punk song ("Harder Better Faster Stronger"). See my review, "Listen to the reviews that tell you this blender is badly made...."

All 4 blenders went out with whimper. The Oster's glass jar simply fell over in the sink one day and cracked clean in half. The KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender leaked like crazy, no matter how tight the o-rings and sprockets. The Waring Commercial Bar Blender artlessly stopped 13 months after purchase. And the Cuisinart SPB-600MP SmartPower Deluxe Die Cast Blender, Metallic Pink, sputtered out in a scary heated apoplexem less than 3 months after arriving home.

Now, the KRUPS KB790 Motor Tecnik Blender with Stainless Steel blades, Die Cast, has come home with me to stay.

I primarily use this for my morning smoothies (chard, spinach, frozen berries, yogurt, etc) and it does a good job. I wish the blades were a little sharper or that there were different blades available, it sometimes leaves the spinach/chard a little fibery instead of chopped up finely, but I'm pretty happy. It's quiet, love the nice big jar, it fits all of my ingredients with no issues.

This is the best blender ever! Anyone who says anything bad about this blender must have got a defective one. For the first time in my life I have a blender that can crush and cut up ice with ease. For a blender, it's very quiet. I am so impressed by how well it mixes food. Nothing ever gets stuck. Blending is always quick and easy!

This once lovely, very quiet blender ended its romance with me just six months after purchase. I did research to find a quality blender that was also quieter than most. How disappointing to find that I couldn't make my morning smoothey, and the return policy ended just one month after purchase. Len Worley

Recieved on 6th business day from placing the order on Amazon. Well packed and undamaged. Crushed some ice and prepared a couple of smoothies. It is heavy and does not run on the counter. Cable storage is nice. Easy to disassemble, however, the plastic tabs you need to push to remove the base from the glass container appear weak (only time will show if that is a flaw). Lid locks in place. Works well, starts slow to avoid splashing. Some chunks remained and had to run it a little longer, however, this is just a matter of getting the hang of this unit. The blades are not super sharp to cause injury by accidental touching (it's a good thing). Best of all, it is quiet and that was the most important issue for us. One more plus, it is made in Mexico not China....
