I got this book as a birthday gift and I couldn't wait to read it and my waiting sure paid off. I loved this book because it has dragons and werewolves and zombies in it which are all my cup of tea. The story tells about a boy named Kai who was abandoned after the death of his father who created the zombies in a freak lab accident. The years pass by as he wanders alone avoiding the spreading zombie plague until he finds a clan of werewolves and a particular werewolf by the name of Clover whom he grows very fond of. Because of the spreading zombies towns become abandoned and humanity itself is threatened. The clan thus has to go from town to town collecting whatever supplies they need to survive. One night while watching a meteor storm Kai and Clover are approached by a race that is literally out of this world. Kai and Clover tell the alien race known as Dragons about the spreading zombie plague and they agree to help humanity survive. This book is full of twists and turns and just know that you will enjoy it as much as I have. I give this book 10 stars out of 5 because it is such an amazing book!!!
The storyline required pretty major suspension of belief. The synopsis I read did not clearly define this as a YA book but I have read and enjoyed a number of books written for the YA market. It obvious very quickly that this was YA and somewhat 'younger' YA at that. I looked but was not able to find the age group this book was specifically written for.
Not a bad storyline, many of the characters were well defined and except for the cliffhanger ending I might have been inclined to read another in this series.
The author is guilty of two cardinal writing sins: Carelessness and being dull. The first is excusable to a point. The second is not.
This book is set 7 years in the future. Kai is trying to survive in a world that is filled with Zombies. He has been alone for years. He never fits in with any group that he runs into and once they find out his secret they always kick him out. One day he see's a beautiful white wolf about to be attacked by Zombies and goes to help it. Next thing he knows he got knocked out and wakes up in a cave. He finds out he is now with a group and has to go through some tests to be able to stay with them. In this group is a girl named Clover. She is very beautiful and he can't seem to stay away from her. He eventually shares his secret with the leader and council of the group. He knows who made the Zombies. It was someone close to him. To his surprise they don't kick him out. They say other peoples sins are not his. But he wasn't the only one with a secret. Clover and some of the others have a secret also.
One night after they had moved on from the cave. Kai and clover were up on a tower looking at the sky when they seen something disturbing. All of a sudden this thing comes crashing to the ground and pulls Kai inside. It is a ship that has dragons inside. Clover thinking that Kai is in danger changes to her wolf to protect Kai and he figures out her secret. They find out that the dragons are not dangerous and want to be friends with them. Clover ends up bonding with one of the dragons. The dragons, humans and werewolves all agree to work together to get rid of the zombies.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book! Once I started reading it I could not put it down. Wendy and Charles wrote such and amazing book that draws you in, keeps you hooked and leaves you eager for more. It was definitely unique having werewolves in a zombie story. I am very eager to read more from these authors. I definitely recommend reading you will fall in love with Kai and Clover and many of the other characters right from the start!
