Alice Strathern is a bilingual independent author based in Calgary, Canada. In 2015, she moved to this country as she got accepted into SAIT's journalism program. While studying, she started writing "Kaleidoscope Eyes", which she finished in the middle of the pandemic.

She enjoys writing in both English and Spanish and has published articles on women's issues in major media outlets in Mexico.

She runs a monthly newsletter that covers topics related to creativity and mindfulness. (Issued in English).

When she's not writing, she's either reading, listening to music or pondering life.

Solid book, I really like the title.

Overall I was able to enjoy reading this book. I thought characters and pacing were the strong points of the writing. The author needs to work on the dialogue, but while it wasn't great or always natural, it did deliver the point each scene intended.

Great start for a debut novella!

I really like the pacing and the storytelling style in Kaleidoscope Eyes. The author is great at summarizing things to keep the scene moving. The dialouge can be a bit awkward, but it gets better as you read the story along.

I think this is a super relatable story to a young person trying to find their place in the world. A lot of time, the people in our life are dismissive, so it's nice to see that same frustration here.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a decent quick read with plenty of workplace scenarios that I'm sure most of us can relate to.

I liked that I could feel what the main character was feeling and could identify with some of those feelings long ago. Good read. Dialogue seemed to be rough and unnatural in spots, but overall I’ll definitely recommend.

A lot of young people will be able to relate to this story. Did I pick the right career? What if I hate my job? This novella is a quick and easy read, yet it brings up serious and important issues. I recommend this book for a young audience.

An interesting story about a young woman who is trying to figure out what to do with her life and make her way in a complicated world. She feels eclipsed by her older sister who happens to be the favorite of her father. I recommend this story for young adults who can relate to the alienation of overbearing parents.

To the author, I recommend changing this book cover. It looks like a how to manual. I also recommend fixing the typo on your Amazon sales page. The word "changing" is spelled wrong. This can give customers the wrong impression about your book.

Window Into the World of a Young Professional

Kaleidoscope Eyes is a good book. Alice Strathern Is a good grammarian who takes the time in some places to develop the story in some places, and leaves parts to the imagination in others. As a father of teen daughters, this story interested me very much. I appreciated a glimpse into what rhey might be facing in the future.

4.5 stars. I recommend for young adults, based on the language.

Great Young Adult Read

This story follows a young woman through her entry into the job market and how she becomes successful. Although she starts off in her sister’s shadow, Karenth finds her way in the end.
I wouldn’t have minded seeing a little more written about her life outside work but it tells the story it sets out to share.
