This iron, while a good bit more expensive, seems built quite solidly. The iron itself is big & kinda heavy, with a big sole plate with lots of steam holes. The cord is not stiff or awkward, but is nice and flexible from the get go. The platform where the iron sits can be adjusted at different angles - a nice touch! The buttons & lights on the unit are large & pretty self-explanatory. What I like most is that the water tank is transparent - no more filling up with funnels until the water overflows!! Plus, it is detachable - the water is sucked from it into the boiler - so you can refill it if you run out of water in the middle of ironing!! The unit did make some noise while the water was getting sucked into the tank - sort of startled me a bit! Taking it on and off was easy, and I tried it while the iron was on & hot to test. Another important point - for me - is that I can use distilled water in it. So many irons today tell you not to use distilled water in them, but I prefer distilled because I live in a really hard water area. Also, after my test ironing session, no dripping or streaking with water at all!!!
So, I hope this is the last iron I purchase for a while!!
