What started in Denmark in the late 1960's set off a global frenzy in early 1970 - the introduction of a line of comfortable shoes based on the simple principles of everyday, whole-body wellness. Shoes developed by a then-little-known Danish yoga instructor, Anne KalsØ. Shoes with a negative heel based on the popular yoga "Mountain" pose, designed to mimic walking barefoot in the sand by naturally positioning the body over the frame. Launching on April 1st - the first "Earth Day" - KalsØ Earth Shoes would signal the humble beginnings of wellness footwear as we know it today.

I also have a leather pair of earth shoes, which I bought about a year ago--I also wear those often, especially on rainy days when my hip pain is worse.
And yes, I did have a pair in the 1970s. They were tan Mary Jane's. I didn't keep them for long because I thought they were so ugly. Today's Earth Shoes are much better looking and designed better. Give them a try--especially if you have arthritis in one (or both) of your hips!
