This product has been around for more than 30 years in Japan. I grew up with this and I was delighted to find this in the US! It is common snack in Japan and people of all ages enjoy this. They are not sweet and go well with green tea. It is salty spicy small crackers made from rice and peanuts. Japanese version of Wikipedia says packages sold in the US contains the peanuts that are made in US, larger and saltier. Price is much higher as well compared to ones in Japan but reasonable for the amount. There are 6 packs and each pack has 0.88 oz--very good size for mid day snack. A bag = 140 calories, no trans fat. Ingredients are natural and safe. Allergy information is indicated that they use peanuts, soy and fish. They might be too spicy for little kids but many kids in Japan love this products.

I loved these until America took over and now the peanuts are baked, the rice crackers taste different and you can't even open the packaging anymore. Not to mention the price. These used to cost $2.50 just a few years ago at the Japanese supermarket, Mitsuwa in NJ.

Kameda version of this rice cracker and peanut mix is the best. Rice crackers have a hint of spiciness, but not too hot for my 2 year old. Peanuts are fresh and are salted to perfection. The pairing of the spicy cracker and the salty peanut is an addictive combination. I have never had another brand of kakinotane (kakipi) that has been as good as Kameda's version.

The original, and still one of the best. Also very spicy. VERY spicy. Not agonizing, not "I asked for very spicy at the little Thai noodle shop and now I'm going to die", but spicy. As a snack with beer, they are basically the god king. As a quick snack if you're NOT looking to wake up every taste bud in a shower of lava? Eh... try another brand.

The peanuts are the BEST in this formulation though. Huge, amazing peanuts.
