Not well made at all.
My 'location' on this account notes an older address... I rarely use this account anymore so I never bothered changing it -- the relevance here is that these boots have been field-tested near my new home on the trails of the Santa Fe National Forest, over 7700' above sea level. I have to admit that I did not expect to reap so many benefits from what I would have initially considered an 'entry-level' product.
We have seen an abundance of snow and cold & blustery winter weather since November in Northern New Mexico and the 'Kamik Champlain' boots have performed very well in all conditions: Waterproof - check; Warm - check; Stability - check!
The sure-footed traction on ice and slippery surfaces completely surprised me, while the comfort wearing my Champlain's over miles of trail-trekking far exceeded my expectations. We're talking deep snow along sometimes-45-degree steep terrain. Granted, I am also wearing snow pants with ankle gaiters and have installed inexpensive heel&arch gel-insole inserts -- but then again I am quite experienced in preparing for Mother Nature. I have been a long time Timberland-guy (over 20 years)... and I've been putting the Kamik's on for my snowy hikes through the National Forest these days (that should tell you something).Read more ›
One of the zippers keeps opening on me.
Some of the threading on one of the boots at the zipper is unraveling, I will fix that shortly.
I have not abused these boots at all.
Good price, but I expect better quality - low standards of QA due to being an import, but unfortunately nothing else is available in this price range.
Very flat sole, I had to put my orthodics in the boots, otherwise they were very uncomfortable.
Without orthodics, virtually no arch support at all.
