I get a lot of compliments on them even though they are so plain. Because they are a slim fit I think they are very flattering to the leg and that is why people comment on them.
The buckle had always been a problem for me. It kept loosening up and not coming undone but being loose enough to flop around. Then, just a week ago, it completely popped off. I thought I could fix it but with the hubub of the holidays I didn't get around to trying to fix it until just before Christmas. I could not repair it and was pretty dismayed. My husband suggested I see if there was a warranty and I went to the Kamik site to see and was shocked to see there WAS a warranty and dismayed to hear that it was 1-year and I had missed the cutoff by days.
Undeterred I sent them an email explaining how it had actually broken the week before and I thought I could fix it so I had put off contacting them and was there any chance I could be covered under the warranty and if not, did they have any suggestions for me on how to reattach it? This was sent on a Monday evening. 20 minutes later a woman responded and asked me for the style/color/size and my address. By the next day my new boots were on their way. I was extremely impressed with the very fast response (2 days before Christmas!) and their willingness to help even though I was technically outside the warranty period. Wonderful wonderful service. I will be buying more of their boots for myself and my family.
- Very cute
- Seem to be great quality
- Good for cold weather
- VERY tight across the top of my foot
- Size 8 fits more like a 7.5 in the foot bed
- Very heavy
- May not be good for a warm spring day
As a disclaimer, I got these to replace a pair of thin, clear rain boots that I had for 7 years that finally cracked through the soles. I loved those rain boots and so I'm probably biased.
These rain boots appear to be very well made, and they are very cute. The upper material is flexible but seems sturdy, and the sole looks like it would hold up for a long time.
The main issue I had with these is that they are extremely tight across the top of the foot. I've never had this problem with any pair of shoes/boots before, and I don't know my feet to be abnormally shaped in any way. Removing the removable insoles does help just a bit.. but the insoles are probably only a millimeter or two thick, and the foot bed under them is not smooth - it is a hard plastic lattice on the heel that is not comfortable to walk on, so not using insoles is not really an option.
I am 5'6" and 130lbs; I do yoga but don't run or lift; and I normally wear a size 7 or 7.5 shoe. I got a size 8 in these so that I could wear thick socks or a boot liner in them, which would probably still work, but they fit much more like a 7.5 to me (with just normal socks on). The calf fits perfectly fine however.
These boots are also very heavy compared to the last pair of rain boots I had. It would probably be a good work out, but it is not comfortable to me. This is probably partly due to the fact that the material is quite a bit thicker, which would probably make them much warmer in the winter, but may make them too warm for a spring day. But mostly it feels like the soles are filled with lead.
Overall, these boots did not work for me and I will be returning them. I found rain boots that appear to be exactly the same as my old ones for $14, and am getting those instead. However, if you are looking for a pair of high quality, warm rain boots; if you don't mind the heaviness; and if they actually fit you, then these are great rain boots.
