Well I got it cheap due to it being on clearance where I work. The gears on the back are fake of course, a real nice pocket watch is going to run over $150. Like come on you don't expect it to be some family heirloom you pass on to your children do you?

I like the watch but did not expect it to be battery operated. I thought
I was ordering a mechanical wind up watch. The included instructions say I have to remove the back cover by prying it off gently using a small screwdriver and the "slot" on the watch. I have looked thoroughly and cannot locate the "slot". So when the battery dies I will have to pay a jeweler to replace the battery. Disappointing..
The amazon description did not mention anything regarding battery operation!! Not a happy camper with this purchase.

As expected, all aspects of shipping/delivery went well. I bought the pocketwatch on a whim just for fun, and I was satisfied with my purchase. The watch was heavier than I thought it would be, which was a good thing -- and the watch looked well made for the price. In addition to a battery, it ships with a nice chain, also more substantial than I thought it would be. So, the pocketwatch, an attractive-looking piece, exceeded my expectations. I expected a toy, but I actually got a decent pocket watch. If you just want to have a little fun with a slice of history and have a pocketwatch to fool with every once and awhile, then the Kansas City Pocketwatch is for you. I've only had it for a few weeks, so I have no idea how long it is likely to keep working....

Its a cheap battery powered watch. It's imported because it comes from china. What do you expect? Personally, I'm using this as a costume prop, and its a nice, cheap toy I can use in a rough play environment without worrying about breaking some expensive timepiece. Honestly, I find it hilarious that everyone's getting all hissy about this being a scam or something. The $44 list price is a joke, this thing retails at CVS for $10. If you've bought this thing thinking you've bought a collectible, or something of major value, you've have the wrong expectations of this product.

Advertisements and TV ads are untrue!!! There is nothing that moves on this watch but the HR and minute hands. It does not wind up as advertised. It is simply another battery operated watch. All of the inter-working parts are fake. They are decals pasted to a clear cellophane paper. FRAUD!! FRAUD!!! FRAUD!!!!! No customer service.....when you call only to buy watch.

Got this at an auction. It's a pretty watch, it seems well made. What I don't like is that it says "skeleton movement" on the box and it is clearly a battery operated watch. The gears and mechanisms of course do not work and are fake. Very disappointing, as I love wind up skeleton watches. I own several $20-$50 range watches of this type and I love winding them every day. It's cathartic for some reason.

Looks like it belongs in a childs toy box. Embarrassed to pull it out of my pocket, I gave it away.

It's just another imported pocket-style watch with a battery-powered quartz movement hidden behind fake (non-moving) mechanical parts. There are hundreds of similar things for the same (currently low) cost. The "certificate of authenticity" is just meaningless drivel printed by a fake "historic" society.

If you like the design, go for it. Otherwise, there's zero reason to buy this over any of the other dirt-cheap quartz pocket watches out there. In my opinion, it looks better WITHOUT obviously fake parts shown through a window. Most watches used on trains 100+ years ago didn't have this gimmick. If you want an "authentic" railroad watch, pick a simple plain white face with regular numbers.
