This book is just ok. The problem with it is that the test questions are not representative of the actual SAT test. The books questions are muchore difficult and confusing. However the material contained in the book is useful if you need to brush up on the history. I wouldn't rely on the book to help much of you didn't pay attention all year in class, but as a review it is very good. But even though the practice tests are not like the ones you will see on exam day they are still good as a method of review and picking up new information. Know that when scoring the practice tests that your score on test day will be significantly higher- really.

The practice tests they give you are not representative of actual SAT II questions at all. The wording is ambiguous, and in a couple of cases, the answer subjective. My friends and I reviewed with this book shortly after taking the AP exam and class, just to try to get a feel for the difference in style between the two tests. This book did not give us that. Our practice test scores were drastically lower than our actual scores (800s) just because we misinterpreted the book questions!
But I will say that they stress the things that appear often in the SAT test but not other exams (like the AP); they emphasize the roles of women and specific individuals. But then again, I'm sure Barron and Princeton review do too.

Bought this book for my Sophomore son to take the SAT Subject test in June 2012 for the World History Subject test. he studied his 9th grade/sophomore year for Honors World History and got an A and exempt the final, but I wanted him to show a college what he could do.

So for 10 days after school ended he worked perhaps an hour a day and completed 4 practice tests from kaplan and and old 2008 Barron's book.

He scored an 800 in the June 2012 World History test, the Kaplan book is good, perhaps very good, recommend taking more than 10 days but it would not be too difficult to score highly in less than a couple of months, but beware the practice tests are easier than the real SAT subject test, just take that into account and you'll be fine.

Good book worth $10

The book reviews all topics in short paragraphs. Good for review but not for introduction. There are question banks included with the review material.

Definitively a good book, covers all the topics required but after taking the test I consider that lacks enough details.

I bought several review books and this was the best of them all. The format was good, better than the others purchased.

My daughter used this book to study for the SAT Subject Test in World History and scored an 800. This book was a great review and prepared her well for the test!
