The clicker is loud and the telescopic part extends out a good distance. I just wish the clip on the back was firm enough to stay on a waistband or strap. Stay, Clicker. Stay. I SAID STAY. Bad Clicker. No treat for you.

This is the best for teaching my dog numerous tricks and commands. The only real trick was not to use the word Ball, to draw her attention to the green ball at the end of the stick. She loves to play ball and if I asked her to find the green ball, she would run off, rummage thru her toys and bring me green ball to play...went with green circle and she got it. Very funny!

Clicker Training requires more skill on the human end then the animals. If done correctly any dog can pick up many skill quickly using the clicker. I got this target clicker to train a particularly high strung pit bull I was fostering. U could get her to come sit and lay down using the green ball as a target. This allowed her to learn down while I was standing and I would not have to bend. Also the mere sight of the sick would focus her attention directly on me and she was eager to learn even without the presence of a food reward. This type of target clicker can also be used for dogs that pull back when being walked on a leash by encouraging them to target the ball as you walk. Again Clicker Training is all about the human and using the click at the right time to achieve your goal.

Our pet trainer suggested this when we began working on "heel" with our one year old Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix). People with bigger dogs can hold a treat at their side and usually get the dog's attention without bending over, but the extension on this tool is great- we use peanut butter mostly for ours- just dip the end in the treat and you can use it to get the dog's attention. The clicker on this is really great too, I started out with a different, smaller clicker and it was hard to "master", this one is easy and makes a pretty loud "click" sound. I'm happy with this. I wish I had bought it when we began training him!

The only down side is user error... I have to be careful where I aim as I have ended up putting peanut butter on my dog's head a number of times :)

The clicker part of this product does not work at all. It arrived defective. And the kicker is, it is in a package with a "try me" window that allows one to try the clicker without opening the package. So the seller could have discovered that it doesn't even work before they shipped it, and could have just grabbed a different one that actually functions. The other kicker is, I read a bunch of reviews before I bought it, and noted that many people had problems with the clicker being too soft, or not working. However, the overall rating for this item was so strong, that I decided to take a chance. Not smart. Apparently either the manufacturing or design is inconsistent, and the seller does not bother to check product functionality prior to sending it off to you. BOO!
Edited to add: I removed the screws from the handle and took the product apart, then put it back together. Somehow that did the trick and the clicker now works. However, the button has to be pressed at just the right angle and with just the right amount of force for it to immediately click. I definitely would not re-purchase this item and advise consumers to beware.

Only one week into training my three cats. I isolate each cat and train them individually. So far it seems to be working great!

Love this thing!

My cats will high five the target or my hand now because they know that they get a click and treat as a result. I never thought I could get my cats to engage with such focus until I got this combination clicker and target.

I bought my first Clicker Target Stick, this same exact one, 5 years ago. And I LOVED IT. I used it so much that the end of it finally broke from constant use. So, I reordered a new one. I was VERY dissappointed to find that the new one has a poor clicker design. I dont know why or how they changed it because it appears to be the same size, etc....but this new one is extremely hard to push and click quickly!! And it hurts my thumb to have to repeatedly push down into it so hard. A clicker should click with ease, and be quick to operate. I sent it back to get another one, thinking it was just a faulty one. But the new one came and has exactly the same issue. :( Why do they always quit making or ruin the good stuff?! So, I'm reordering a whole new design from another company. Too bad they'ver ruined this one.
