As other reviewers have had the same inlet port breaking as mine, you have been warned. I'm going to research and buy a better water filtration system. This Hiker Pro has a design flaw that you cannot trust it out in the field. I've attached a photo where I you can see the plastic weld around the inlet port is joined to the main body. This is where the failure and design flaw is located.
them being put out of commission with less than perfect water - when this happens, I hope you have
some sort of backup plan. This could also get very expensive.
I am leaning more towards using my admittedly heavier ceramic cartridge filter because it can be cleaned if you clog it,
and also chemical means that work on water that would present clogging problems with filters. I have used iodine and chlorine products in the past and am currently testing magnesium permanginate.
I really enjoy the water flow, it runs through very quickly so you don't have to spend 30 minutes sucking through a straw. I filled up a 32 oz bottle in about a minute.
The build quality is good, I'm glad I went with this instead of a straw type.
1. Make sure you know exactly which hoses go where before you start attaching them. They can be very difficult to remove once you put them on.
2. BE SURE to use the silicone lubricant when attaching the hoses. I tried to put one on without it and it was 10x harder to connect.
