Kate Leahy is a food writer and recipe developer who has worked on everything from cookbooks and freelance articles to R&D projects and photo shoots. She lives in San Francisco but has also called Napa, Boston, and Chicago—her favorite second city—home.
After a year of baking cookies at a French bakery in Oakland and five years cooking on the line for James Beard award-winning chefs, Kate switched to writing about food and restaurants. Her first book, A16 Food and Wine, received the IACP 2009 Cookbook of the Year award and the Julia Child First book award. She has since worked on more than six nationally recognized books on food and wine, including Cookie Love by Mindy Segal (Ten Speed Press, 2015), The Seasoned Life by Ayesha Curry (Little, Brown, 2016), and Burma Superstar, with Desmond Tan (Ten Speed Press, 2017). As a native Californian and former college athlete, she has tried surfing—twice—but these days leaves the shredding to her brother.
