About the Author
Cindy M. Hogan is inspired by the unpredictable teenagers she teaches. More than anything she loves the time she has with her own teenage daughters and wishes she could freeze them at this fun age. If she's not reading or writing, you'll find her snuggled up with the love of her life watching a great movie or planning their next party. Most of all, she loves to laugh. She is the bestselling and award winning author of the Watched trilogy, a YA suspense series with a dash of romance. She has since branched off to write a mystery, Gravediggers, that won Best YA novel of 2013, a contemporary romance, Sweet and Sour Kisses, and three in a spy series, Adrenaline Rush, Hotwire, and Fatal Exchange. Her newest action/adventure novel, Kate Unmasked (Code of Silence: Book 1) is now available. She also has two novellas, The Descension in the Strange and Lovely anthology and Dangerous Truth in the Sweet and Sassy: Castle Collection

I loved this book! I love the way that Cindy Hogan writes. Her plots are amazing, they're full of twists and turns that keep you guessing and up all night reading the book to find out just what is going to happen next. I was surprised multiple times about just where the whole story line was going. And the ending....um...she had better hurry up and write more to this series!
Cindy Hogan does characters really well too, I always feel as though they are real people that I know in her books. I love that, because it makes me care about the character and what will happen to them.
Can't wait for more books about Kate!
As a mother reading this story the efficiency and organization of Kate’s home would be my dream come true. Kate is such an obedient child that cares about passing her physics exam with high marks, is kind to her siblings, plays her piano for hours, responsibly does her chores, does extra to surprise and please her mother, plays basketball full on, etc…. That child rarely exists, and to have a whole family of children that are so close to perfect is pretty implausible. A dream maybe but then life sure would be rather boring. Although is that a bad thing? I’m waffling here.
Kate Unmasked is a story of finding yourself. A journey that is much more difficult for the adopted child. I have four adopted children from two separate birth families. One lesson that my husband and I took away from foster care training is to never try to make a child’s past prettier than it is and to never lie or hide available information about their past. We have never regretted the choice to follow those precepts. Kate’s parents made the opposite decision, hiding all of the available information and generally misleading her. It just about gets Kate killed. I got quite angry with Kate’s parents for allowing her to go to some of the extreme measures that she did knowing that there would be no answers. Their duplicity led the dream child to become a rebellious one out of sheer frustration. There wouldn’t have been much of a story though without those decisions and their effect upon Kate.
Kate Unmasked generated emotion in me. Not every writer can do that. Additionally, the book ended in a great way and had me ready to move on to the second story in the series. In my world that is a great story.
I received a review copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. My thanks to the author and publisher.
