On a cold and rainy Valentine’s Day in 2006, Atlanta socialite and celebrity wife, Shelby Porter returns to her hometown of Valley, Alabama, following months of seclusion and a courageous, life-changing move on her part. After all she has endured and survived, she only wants one thing now: the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, Jack Emerson.
Returning home, though, she is mired in memories of the past and what was and could have been. Through her reminiscence, she thinks of a time when life was simple. When swinging on the porch with her beloved parents and a glass of sweet tea was one of the best things in life. When all she dreamed of was leaving her small town to pursue her education and her desire to be a teacher. When all she wanted was the love and attention of that one boy… the football star, the town hero, her Jack.
Even though their lives had been etched from two paths crossing, weaving, and entwining until finally joining into one in the future, it wouldn’t be the happily-ever-after they’d both assumed. Not when Denise Davenport comes to town and makes her intentions clear that Jack Emerson is on her radar. While at the same time, Richard Porter, a rich boy headed off for a career in law, sets his sights on Shelby and how she would be the perfect trophy wife for a man who intended to have the lifestyle destined for him.
Misunderstandings, lies, and manipulation abound. Teenage drama and young adults at the precipice of their new destiny. Hearts broken and dreams smashed… all for what? Shelby leaves her small town—and Jack—behind for a new life in college. A place where she’ll find herself, as well as the best friends a girl could ever have, and a man whose handsome charm and promises make her forget the love of a lifetime.
This is just the beginning.
A Heart of Steel is an epic journey of one woman’s life, loves, and destiny… and the power of passion, heartache, tragedy, fame, and fortune held together by a family secret so powerful and clandestine it only serves to strengthen the perfect first love that will last forever.
Because… sometimes young love is never to be forgotten.
This is Part One of a three-book series.

Later that afternoon, Shelby makes her way to the place she has always found peaceful and carefree. The Kissing Bridge. There, Jack spots her sitting alone on the sandbags. However, their reunion is not exactly what she had expected.
It had been six long years since their last meeting. Shelby tries desperately to tamp down her feelings for Jack, but her desires come rushing back.

True love is rare.
Fate and destiny is even rarer…
A Heart of Steel is an epic journey of one woman’s life, loves, and destiny… and the power of passion, heartache, tragedy, fame, and fortune held together by a family secret.
… when love strengthens the heart.
This is the second book in the A Heart of Steel series. While it's a stand-alone book, it is best read in order to understand the characters and the plot. The series has three parts.
Through all Shelby Porter had been through with her abusive husband, Richard, and her heart pining for her long-lost love, Jack Emerson, Shelby accidently discovers an undisclosed secret about her tormented life. All the years of asking why came to light with the answer she now held in her hand. Or so she thought…
A heated attempted murder trial, a family ripped apart, a woman existing every breath with fear and heartache. When Shelby’s husband reveals his deception—one of profound circumstances—it opens up a whole new world to her and gives her heart the hope she’s so long looked for. The love she’s deserved.
But tragedy strikes for Shelby and Jack, putting them on exactly the course they were destined to be on where more family twists, turns, and secrets are disclosed and their world erupts.
When Jack is confronted with the monster who destroyed his and Shelby’s life, will he be able to refrain from the revenge he so desires? Or, will he take the higher road? The one Shelby would have him travel? Hope and faith is all they have, but will it be enough?
This is the epic conclusion of A Heart of Steel, the journey of one woman’s life, love, and destiny… and the power of passion, heartache, tragedy, fame, and fortune held together by a family secret so powerful and clandestine, yet it will strengthen the greatest love story of modern day, a love destined to be forever…
Because… love really is enough.
