From the back cover

But now, after two babies and hitting 40, I realize it's not only the best thing I can do for me, but also for my family. There's not a better beginner workout than this one. It may not be the most exciting one to do, because it's old school Jack La Lane kind of moves, but it works, it strengthens you up quick, especially your legs and abs. It gets you on the floor and limbering up your stiff back. But you won't stick with it for long because if you do it at least two or three times a week, you'll become too strong for it very quickly, which is the whole point. But keep it in your collection anyway because when you flop out and get stiff again, it'll be there to strengthen you up again.

And if you really like doing it, you can make it more strenuous by increasing your weights, adding some ankle weights, or better yet, doing it right after a more strenuous workout. Say for instance, if you just did some Kathy Smith or Cathe Friedrich, and feel like you want to keep going, then doing this right afterward will kick your butt without an actual overkill.

It's a great workout! I recommend it as a must have in your collection. I'm on my 3rd copy of this workout because I wore out two of them over the years. It's really great that you can still buy it brand new, but what's whack juice is that you gotta deal with a VHS tape.

I've tried many many exercise videos and this one is by far my favorite. It works your whole body but is very gentle for beginners or moderate exercisers who are not hard core, hard body athletes. I love this video! However, my copy was eaten by the vcr and I can't find another. Please please re-release this video. I'm getting flabby waiting for it.

Classic workout videos are always good. If your VHS still works, then try this workout. For indoors, needing around 8 fit x 8ft floor space (likely good for NYC or HK apartments/units). You will need hand weights (dumbbells), shoes, and a floor cushion/yoga mat. This routine has mostly non-impact/low impact moves, has weight lifting elements, and has a stretch-out cool down routine. The exercises focus on both upper and lower body. This workout is good for beginners, intermediate, and advanced exercisers.

It is very easy to follow the instructor (unlike some newer videos in the marketplace). The pace is right, plus it's fun.

Think about it. Tai Chi, yoga, and classical martial arts has thousands of years of history -- this leads us to think that good exercises never get outdated. I don't think exercises that are good for your body ever really becomes obsolete (well, unless you honestly think you can fast-forward your bio-mechanical construct in order to turn into some sort of cyborg in the brave new world).

Developed and conducted by trained fitness expert and very well done. kathy lee just doing the workout. mixes cardio routines with weight reps. decent stomach workout at end. Wish the leader had other tapes. I'd buy em. equal or better workout compared to jane fonda and kathy smith options.

This is a great workout. It is simple enough to be memorized after a half dozen workouts and can easily be done to music (with the sound of the tv turned down). It was created for beginners but is still a thorough workout. Deserves consideration even if you are not a Kathie Lee fan.

The BEST low impact video out there. I lost my first, original copy, then ordered this "copy." It's a pretty poor copy, but better than nothing! Sure wish that it was on DVD, instead of VHS.

My sister-in-law gave me this workout video back in 1997. I used this workout on and off for over four years. I no longer use this video since I joined a gym a year ago, but I wanted to write about my experiences with it.
Being a skinny guy, I wanted a workout that would help me get good muscle tone. This video definitely delivered! The video starts out with about a 10 minute warm-up. I found the warm-up to be a little too long. After the warm-up, the video goes into the aerobic interval segments. First you do the low-impact aerobic steps, then you go to your weights. Then back to aerobic steps, then back to weights, and so on... The steps in this video are very easy to learn. I am very uncoordinated, and after about six times I had the steps pretty well memorized. The weights in the workout really help tone your arms. The participants in the video used small hand weights -- 2 to 5 pounds -- but I used 15 to 25 pound weights as I progressed.
After the main part of the aerobics and weights, there is a section doing various types of squats. One of the squats were very hard on my knees, and I do NOT normally have knee problems. I think that section of squats should be re-evaluated. I ended up modifying that section of the squats.
As I progressed and used this video more and more, I had to modify the video to make it more difficult for myself. During the squats -- in addition to modifying the section of squats that hurt my knees -- I added weights and adjusted the number of reps I did. This really helped me to firm up my butt!
The video ends with abdominals. These exercises killed me when I first did them, but I as I progressed they became easier. Looking back, I think the abdominal portion of the tape could have been better.
