What can I say about Kathy Griffin? She's just downright funny! She's one of only a handful of heterosexual, yet gay-friendly comedians that I like. I give the actual KG Comedy Specials a 5-star rating but rated them 4-stars here because my only gripe with the way they aired on Amazon Prime Instant Video's streaming service is they bleeped over all of the words that would've gotten bleeped over had this aired on basic cable. Come on, Amazon, I'm in my 30's, I don't need you to hold my hand while I'm watching a video and bleep out the foul language.

Loved it and of course she is very funny. It runs 35 minutes 50 seconds, but there are some jokes that are cut out: Anna Nicole reference and her encore jokes, which you don't get to hear. That was disappointing. Other than those things, Griffin's material is great!

This collection has some of Kathy Griffin's funniest stand up specials - including my personal favorite, Strong Black Woman. The reason I only gave the collection 4 stars is because a couple of the specials are not that great - i.e. Seamen First Class. Its still worth the money for the other good specials though. A must have for any Kathy fan!

Self-proclaimed D-Lister Kathy Griffin pulls no punches in these one-hour specials. No celebrity is safe when Mrs. Kathy is at the microphone. She tells hysterical inside stories about everyone from Whitney Houston to Céline Dion to Little Richard. Following the progression of her career it is obvious that Kathy Griffin is no longer a D-List celebrity. The greatest thing about Ms. Griffin is that each one of her shows is completely different.

Topics included in these specials include her Jesus-Centered Emmy acceptance speech, dating Steve Wozniak, and her 93 year old mother Maggie. If you are easily offended by crude humor and language this is not the comedienne for you.

Kathy Griffin's reality series, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List, is a genuinely entertaining look into her life as a second-tier celebrity, but her hilariously scabrous stand-up routines are really where she shines as a performer. Available on Amazon Unbox Video Downloads are five of her Bravo TV specials. Running around forty minutes each without commercials, they show Griffin at her unapologetic best mocking overexposed celebrities. Fully aware of the safety zone for her material, she is a masterful storyteller when it comes to embellishing her encounters with celebrities ripe for ridicule, but her humor is rarely offensive to the point of cruelty. In fact, it is her approval-seeking desire to make the A-List that allows her to get away with much of her potentially libelous material.

Her barbs cover well-trodden territory but from a perspective that relates easily to her audience of fellow celebrity followers. Favorite topics include plastic surgery, public drunkenness, substance abuse, megalomania, eating disorders, and stars with questionable sexual orientations. While Griffin covers pretty much anybody in the media glare, she has a roster of favorites who seem to resurface in her skewering monologues, chief among them Whitney Houston, Barbara Walters, Ryan Seacrest, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, the Olsen twins and Clay Aiken. Ironically, her weakest moments come when she focuses on her own personal travails outside of the limelight, such as trying to manage her two dogs on a road trip to Vegas. Her humor will be lost on anyone who doesn't read People or watch "Entertainment Tonight" regularly, but there is no getting around the fact that the woman is very funny.

there are still too few women comedians and kathy griffin has really gone the distance with stand up. she is still up there on stage in her early 50s. she has carved out her own niche audience and sustained it for decades. i've actually seen all the shows listed on amazon instant video and i'd recommend all of them. what she is most famous for is doing stand up about hollywood stars much bigger than herself. her act changes with the times as the hollywood hot stars change over time. right now she has justin bieber high on her list just like she used to have britney spears. she also has a segment about her mother maggie, an irish catholic widow now her in early 90s. i went to catholic schools and kathy's imitations of Irish Catholic Maggie are absolutely dead on and hilarious. kathy has a core audience of gays and always has material on gay and straight relationships and gay and straight sex. there is nothing lurid about her act, however.

in case you didn't know this, kathy got a huge break in show business when she scored some SEINFELD episodes. what she did on SEINFELD became the basis of her act to the present day, i.e. she did an entire stand up act mocking Jerry Seinfeld. (He absolutely loved it but acted like he hated it on the show.) the set up was that Jerry was telling her as one comedian to another that she was lousy at stand up and she, in her anger, became great at standup because she started satirizing him. Newman even asks for her autograph because he thinks her work against Jerry is so important.
