Editorial Reviews

Katie Melua has firmly established herself among the ranks of international music stars with her unique and unmistakable style. One of Britain's most successful female singers of the past decade, Katie has sold more than 10 million albums with multi-platinum awards in 13 countries. Born in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, Katie and her family moved to Belfast before settling in Surrey where Katie attended the Brit School for the Performing Arts. Having signed to Mike Batt's independent record label Dramatico while still at school, Katie's first two albums - 'Call Off The Search' and 'Piece By Piece' - both became international number ones with singles such as `The Closest Thing To Crazy' and `Nine Million Bicycles' becoming airplay hits around the world. By the release of her third album `Pictures', in 2007, Katie was the biggest-selling UK-based, female artist in the world. Her current album `The House' has received some of the finest reviews of her career and gave Katie another European number 1 record.

In addition to the phenomenal success of her records, Katie has enjoyed many special experiences - including several massive world tours, receiving numerous awards, playing on stage for Nelson Mandela with the band Queen, dining at Buckingham Palace with The Queen, performing a gig at the bottom of the North Sea and walking the Great Wall of China. Internationally respected as an advocate for environmental protection and charitable activities, Katie recently became the brand ambassador for Vauxhall/Opel's ecological initiatives and their revolutionary electric car Ampera.

Any fan of Katie Melua will enjoy every second of this dvd. It's wonderful to hear her sing with an orchestra to complement such wonderful songs. The dvd is new to the US but a couple years old to the UK so I did not expect anything from her new cd the House. There is one song from the house " the one I love is gone"

I will watch this many more times and recommend this to everyone. There is another review here that gave this one star. That person has no sense and does not deserve Katie.

Every song is well done. If you're thinking about buying this, stop thinking and get it. You can't go wrong....it's fantastic :)

I have purchased all of her concerts I think: under the North Sea off Norway; in concert in South Africa, and in Stuttgart. We saw her in Washington, DC and the truth is that she doesn't need a big orchestra to knock your socks off. She is the best person and voice to ever come out of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I enjoyed this so much I think I watched it from beginning to end several times the first night. It's classic Katie, though my input and four stars has more to do with Katie's stage presence. I would have liked to have seen her loosen up a bit and interact more with Mike Batt, the orchestra and the audience, but that's trivial and just my own opinion. She sang masterfully and was just as good live! And if one has a decent hi-fi, the audio is more than adequate. All in all very much worth the price of admission and nice to experience again every now and then.
