Kawaiokalena is the much anticipated release from Keali i Reichel, adding to the legacy of his artful interpretations of Hawaiian music and chant. In recent years, he refocused his attention to hula and expanded his cultural teachings around the World. This album includes many hula and chant oriented selections, as well as some of his live stage signature selections that have not yet been recorded. A thread, throughout, touches upon his upland Maui home and its transcendent surroundings, sharing his sensitivities and love of his world with the listener.

Kawaiokalena takes you to Piiholo, up country on the slopes of Haleakala.
Ke Aloha is a beautiful song about the love contentment between a couple.
This cd even has the Aulani song! I like the range of traditional songs, chants, and modern ballads.
The song Hawai'i will bring back memories of Hawaii if you are a visitor. if you are a Kamaaina, it will remind you of why you love Hawaii.
There is even a fun song about a drink called the Slippery Nipple.
The Promise is a haunting melody written by Tracy Chapman about goodbyes.
Home, written by Michael Buble, sums us what we all feel, there's no place like home. There is not a bad song in the bunch, reading the words in the cd as poetry is a bonus, it's so beautiful. Another winner for Kealii Richel!
Would highly recommend this CD to anyone into Hawaiian music.
